Switched from auto frs to a limited brz manual,and i miss my auto. It was just as good if not better and this Subaru radio sucks compared to the bespoke audio wise. Still fun but damn i miss those flappy panels... Will most likely end up switching front bumpers soon frs looks better even though the brz one is growing on me.

There's plenty of people looking to trade their AT for an MT. I get PM's twice a week or so, because of my old thread LOL...

I just don't understand why your getting remorse from switching up to a brz manual but it won't be hard to switch back to an A/T if you so desire.

I'm 100% satisfied with my choice. I just hate that I chose wrong in the first place!

MT - I've known how to drive a manual since I was 16...and...the 2 previous cars that I've owned ('95 Kia Sephia, '01 Mitsubishi Mirage LS coupe) were MT. I whipped around in my cousin's '10 tC MT last summer to Myrtle Beach. Oh, and then the Hot Lava FR-S I test drove when I decided to pull the trigger. So, yeah...I'm just experienced is all.

This goes for the Manual pedants just as much as the Auto crowd.
I think you missed my point.. I'm not saying its childish.. I'm saying that's all a manual can do that a auto can't.. And when I was younger that's stuff I loved to do.. Now it's not a deciding factor, so I don't put it in the.. What can the manual do that my auto can't.. I'm all for getting what makes you happy, I went to the dealership to buy a manual.. They didn't have one and I loved the auto in it.. I'm just saying, to the guy who said you can't have fun in. Uto.. That's far rom the truth because you can lol

The performance hit with the power robbing auto is obviously significant.

Also auto transmissions, especially 6 speed ones are very prone to long term reliability issues. A new auto transmission for this car in 5 years will cost a huge chunk of change, compared to at most a clutch and slave cylinder replacement with the manual. And for a low volume car like this the odds of finding a trustworthy auto transmission rebuilder will be slim to none.

There are only a few logical reasons to buy an auto:. if you drive in a big city with constant traffic jams.. Or if you have a physical disability like knee damage that doesn't allow you to push a clutch. Either way I'd be looking at a different car.

Although I have gotten groceries in my BRZ without any difficulty.
How can the Focus ST be faster when the manual BRZ has the better power to weight ratio.

Focus ST = 3200lbs, FWD, 246hp
BRZ = 2750lbs, RWD, 200hp

If both had the same driver, same tires, same conditions. The BRZ will be faster in accleration.

Since the early 30's. But it helps to have a fast car...which the FRS/BRZ is not...

Not sure where you got that the BRZ has a better power to weight ratio but let's actually put the numbers into a calculator. Given the same 175 pound driver:

Focus ST
Weight=3200 (car) + 175 (driver) = 3375lbs
Power (crank) = 252hp

Weight/Power = 3375/252 = 13.4 lbs/hp

BRZ/FRS
Weight=2750 (car) + 175 (driver) = 2925lbs
Power (crank) = 200hp

Weight/Power = 2925/200 = 14.6 lbs/hp

That is a difference of over 8% in the ST's favor when it comes to power to weight ratios. Also, that is taking crank hp. The BRZ/FRS loses a larger percentage to the ground than the ST due to the differences of FWD and RWD (in the area of an additional 3% power). And we won't even get into talking about the difference in torque....

Your idea of fast borders on fantasy, stop watching exotic car videos on youtube.

Im looking at the 0-60 calculator after i put in all the data you provided.

Ford focus st: 6.334 secs
BRZ: 6.252 secs

So it looks like the BRZ will edge out the Ford focus ever so slightly in acceleration

I prefer magazines over "calculators" myself.... http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...focus_st_test/

This debate is stupid. Out of 2 slow cars, the focus st is a bit faster... It really doesn't matter much. The biggest difference between the two cars feel IMO (power wise) would be the ST has a lot more low end torque than the fr-s, but the fr-s being lighter probably feels a little more "springy"/"quick". (I haven't test drove the st so not sure...)

Just wanted to stop this from dragging on any more...

Yeah the Ford Focus ST does have a lot of low end torque. I think they are both as fast as each other. If the ST was RWD, it would be t least half a second faster than the BRZ for sure.
