Quick Q cuz I might be slightly retarded, but I noticed your flanges are beveled between your mating surfaces on non bolt side of your mating flanges, any reason why? Also +1 for not having shitty borla warp flange syndrome.

Also another Q, if the mating surface on a flange was leaking cylinder to cylinder what would be the symptoms?

JDL will not be taking a vacation this year, because they will be swamped with orders for these headers.

I installed it last night, and it is the best bolt on I have done so far!!!

I swear the "dip" is gone, I can't wait to get it on the Dyno. Should be soon.

Now it did make the exhaust louder, I am going to try trading my non res Perrin for a res Perrin.

Nice Job JDL.

@Simmons Good to hear - Can't wait for mine to come

How would you rate the loudness compared to prior? That has been my one major concern with upgrading the header. Not sure how loud the non res perrin is, but I have an ARK DTS exhaust and i'm praying it doesn't make it stupid loud. If so I will have to install the stock exhaust back Do you just have a catback?

oh and one more thing, hows that boxer rumble

I have the Perrin over pipe, Perrin front pipe with HFC, and Perrin non res cat back. It definetly got louder, I could live with it but I AutoX and am worried about passing sound.

The boxer rumble is Awesome!!!! :happy0180:
it is a little raspy without res.

Video coming soon.

Simmons.

Thanks for the feedback. I don't plan on touching anything else other than my catback (at least for now) so hopefully a lot of that sound gets eaten up from the stock front pipe/overpipe.

Hopefully it sounds even better but still tame with a catback. I'd be pretty upset if I had to pull that off.

Its just WAY too nice being able to drive around under the radar right now. I am not about to give that up, especially after all the hassling that went on when I had my STi. This car is different though - not many people even know what it is, so i'm hoping that I can still get away without being a target.

You guys are in for a treat

I happened to be on a return leg from a trip up north and we burned the midnight oil (literally...it was midnight by the time the second police officer....nevermind another story). Anyway we got to do some preliminary testing via g-testing and tuning. Install is super easy, o2 sensors, three bolts for each head, overpipe 4 bolts, lower heat shield...no big deal but ratcheting wrenches will make the job quicker. I can spend an hour writing but I'll let the pictures do the talking.

If you think you'll get a better one for less than 1k...you won't. Fitment was--PERFECT. As a fabricator to some degree I can tell you everything is right. The bends are as gentle as fitment allows, the runners aren't oversized for no reason, and the tubes are all round and ground smooth on the inside at the transitions. Backpurged, no overheated welds--and flex joints that work. This thing will outlast the car.

I should say I have no stake in this, not my car, I don't sell them (though I may after seeing it...) but we are getting a unit for our DD to use with the stock exhaust for testing. You'll see why once we get it on the dyno.

Video/sound coming shortly...but inside the car it makes for something even my high end audio stuff cannot capture. Visceral, yet no drone. But we will try once we have both a stock exhaust and the straight through (as in the coming video).
