Oem uses clips and tape to mount on to the paint.
Ebay type uses tape and mounts on paint or trim.

-clip type replica on ebay, clip type window visors

HIC's are designed to mount on the trim, but it hits the window when you open the door. The trick is to open the door slower and let the glass go down and it won't hit. I had HIC and they did almost nothing and the tape doesn't hold for too long after hitting the window so many times. Some people mount it on the paint and they won't hit the glass when opening the door, but it makes them less effective.

If I were to do it again, I would just go oem or j-blood. Maybe the clip on replicas.

With the understanding that "you get what you pay for," I'll probably go with the replicas. I just can't justify $200 for the OEM kit. Where do the clips fasten onto, the trim?

@HunterGreene the clips just slide under the trim.
does look like the center tab is a locking type that once it goes in, it's not coming off without breaking it. (not 100% sure on this)

I don't like the oem type as it goes on the paint and changes the look of the a pillar slightly. Doesn't seem that bad when my hic hits the glass when opening the door.

Please post if you decide to get the replicas... I'm not ready to buy a third set just yet.

I probably will purchase after I get back from visiting the family for Christmas. I'll post up here how that goes.

Am I the only one who thinks these look really out of place stuck to the side of the car?

Nope, but it depends what angle you look at the car from, also it would sort of help in ice or snow so the car opens up easier with these frame less windows.

I'll just put my 2 cents in. After fighting with 2 sets of cheap eBay ones, it ain't worth the hassle. It's just not a good attachment system and it's a pain in the ass to get them to fit right.

This, of course is my experience, YMMV

They are sort of one of those things that don't look great in pics but in real life blend in fine. They also can look really good with a lip and skirt to kind of balance things out.

Yes. I would love a set of the louvers but am just way too cheap to pay the prices they want. Even the "cheap" ones cost far more that I would pay.

They really do look great on this car, by some form of witchcraft.
