The 86 I bought here in Japan came with them factory fitted, and I've had absolutely no problem with them at all.

I have on truck weather techs. $80 (4 of em) 4yrs now, dd, no issue, no discoloration. When my sis was 8, she'd hang from them.

Just my xp.

P.s. weathertech does make em if you email/call em. Try HIC

Edit: Cost dropped. $200-$250 now. If you order from Japan, shipping and handling can cost you another $100 though!

So what is the purpose of these anyway? The only reasons I can think of are:

1) if you're a smoker, so you can smoke in the rain
2) if you're not a smoker, but feel like lowering your windows in the rain (....but why?)

Edit: on second thought, I can see how it would be nice to have some fresh air circulation if I didn't live in the armpit of the gulf. My AC is on 100% of the time.

Ya, about 80% of the time it is a nice temperature here even when raining and opening the window at least a little in the rain would be nice.
I have been considering these for a while now but like every thing else I go back and forth so many times I will probably trade it in bone stock.

100% your AC? AC hurts my mpg enough to notice and i'm OCD about that in town when paying 3.80-4.10 for premium. Goes in town from 22mpg driving like a grandma to 17mpg or so. In HWY idc, it doesn't impact it much. I know if i was not OCD, I would not notice.

If you're a smoker you'll smoke anywhere anytime lol

I see the rain guards/visors as: allowing you to leave window an inch open so heat will disperse quicker from inside when parked, and looks. It doesn't really help with rain.

Looks (cosmetically) is a real heart throb for people. Plus, it makes the car look just a tad more aggressive.

I want them so bad again but I hate the 'woosh' and 'frilll' sound it made above 60mph. Again, OCD because I always have my music high enough to hide the sound of sirens but still notice wind noise.

(not mine) I have a whiteout

Yeah, when it's constantly like 60% humidity and you go weeks with highs over 100*f, AC never gets turned off.

How do these mount? I have heard that there is an adhesive version (which I imagine is not very long-lasting) and a "clip on" version, yet I have not heard anyone explain how these work. How do the clip-on variety mount? And is there a cheaper clip-on alternative than $200?
