There is no way to avoid some kind of marring when having plastic come in any kind of contact with the clear coat.

They best way to go about it is to instal them over a clear bra.

When I was a kid my grandmother had this green floral-patterned sofa in her living room that was encased in plastic. Not only was the plastic ugly, but it was also uncomfortable as hell. And noisy! But it was the only place to sit. This plastic crap was something the furniture stores sold as an add-on back in the '70s to protect your investment from normal wear.

She had that fucking sofa the entire time I was growing up. Yeah, the plastic protected the fabric until it finally became brittle and started cracking. But by that time, the internal structure of the sofa had broken down so that you'd sink right through one end of it if not for the plastic holding you up off the floor. So we ended up taking an out-of-style busted-ass sofa with perfect fabric to Goodwill.

These Rally Armor mudflaps are the automotive equivalent of my grandmother's plastic sofa covering. What you're protecting against isn't worth the ugly, when there are OEM solutions that do the job reasonably well without making the car look stupid.

tl;dr.. ok I lied, but lemme tell you this one. I installed them for form and function. Love the look. Enjoy the added protection as I live in the sticks. You think they look stupid. That doesn't mean they look stupid.

Everybody's a critic.

Am I glad I have RAs? Yes, yes I am. And they're red! Despite what the pic below might show from the day after Valentine's Day driving around DC.

Would I still run them if I still lived in Southern California? No, I wouldn't. But I also wouldn't have ever bought the FR-S in the first place.

I have cold start completely disabled in OFT. Love the sound, love the performance of the system as a whole (OFH). Can't wait to get Front pipe and overpipe

I like my OEM ones. Not too obtrusive or flamboyant. I may need to trim mine though if I go lower with my car.

Mine are ok with my 1 1/2" lower. They do make the scariest noise when going over speed bumps or on to a hoist but so far no damage.
