PolishFrs13 the only time i got this code come up was when i had small hoses on catch can and fittings didnt breath well.
put bigger hoses on and drilled out all my fittings for better air flow put check valve in no code has returned. make shore you can easly blow air through your complete system i think these engines like to be able to breath easly through these pipes other wise in throws codes.

regards john

Sportsguy83 you are right i had small leak when i tested with system caped off.
I will keep the closed non vented system because i like the idea of creating a vacume in crank to help vent and dont like the smell of vapers in engine bay when venting to atmosphear. am boosting 10psi now with the SBD KIT and loving it.

Hmm I'm gonna have to try it again and see what else it is. I'm running a check vavle of the PCV to the air vented FbM catch can. and still throw the evap code of p0441

I bought 3/8 kynar viton valves but doesn't fit with my AVO catch can because it uses 1/2 hoses. I've gotta look for a reducer as well...

Part 12204 - SU00300132 is a PCV Valve, which has a check valve operation in it. From what everyone is saying it appears as thought it leaks under boost. Either way, it's there.

I just want to see a picture of this fitting showing a check valve in operation. That is what I have never seen. If I still had my BRZ, I would pull it off and take a look.

All PCV valves have a check operation to keep positive pressure out of the crankcase. The design hasn't changed much in decades. Most of the ones on NA engines these days aren't meant to handle much or sustained positive pressure though.

Found this to be interesting about the Radium dual catch cans: The "PCV Valve" kit mounts on the right side of the engine bay. This catch can runs inline with the 3/8" PCV (positive crankcase ventilation) valve. When the intake manifold pressure is close to or greater than atmospheric pressure, the PCV "check" valve closes and, thus, this hose experiences no flow. Conversely, the PCV hose will experience "metered" vacuum when the engine is idling, steady state cruising, and decelerating. This would normally draw unwanted crankcase vapor, unspent fuel, and oil sludge into the intake manifold immediately after a high load run. Note: Because the Radium catch cans are pressure sealed, they are great for boosted applications as well so connecting to the intake manifold is permitted.

I'm running Kraftwerks c38, Should I need a check valve if I have this kit?

All that means is it doesn't vent to air at all. If you had a catch can that wasn't pressure sealed connected to your intake manifold your boost would vent to air through the catch can...

You still need a check valve.

Can someone tell me whether the supercharger "elbow" at the back of the Sprintex kit sees boost pressure? My understanding is that the pcv line doesn't see boost because the air only gets compressed after if has traveled through the twin screws.

So if that's the case then would I be right in saying that an upgraded/additional check valve (assuming the factory valve was not designed for boosted applications) on the sprintex kit isn't as beneficial compared to turbo kits?

You're right that an additional check valve isn't as beneficial as compared on turbo kits, but ask yourself why the brake booster line, which goes into the back of the elbow exactly the same as the pcv line, has a check valve on it as well....better safe than sorry and my sprintex kit runs just fine with a check valve in line after the catch can for the pcv side.

I agree that is the definition of a PCVV or PCV valve. I am still not convinced that is what is installed on this motor. All non OEM forced induction motors should never see positive pressure heading towards the crankcase.

Is the check valve you guys are talking about installing in this location?

78. PCV Valve Installation:
A. Locate the PCV hose where it exits the backside of the intake manifold on the
passenger side. The hose will make a 90º bend downwards. Remove the hose from the car and
pull the outer cover off the hose.
B. Cut the hose 2” down from the 2nd 90º bend.
C. Insert the new high-performance PCV valve (4910-07-J01) into the hose and secure
with the two (2) #15 spring clamps provided. The PCV valve installs ONE direction. Blow into
each side of the valve. The side that restricts/stops flowing air when you blow will be on the
intake manifold side of the PCV hose.
D. Reinstall the hose on the engine and secure the hose at the intake manifold with a
CTL 13 clamp.

This is from the installation instructions for the Jackson Racing Supercharger.

They include a "high performance" PVC valve with the kit.
