lol everyone saying that passing is no big deal. yeah passing is no big deal when you downshift and step on it to go around the 80 year old in his Oldsmobile. But when that soccer mom in her mini van doesn't really want to be behind you, she isn't going to let you pass, and there is nothing you can do about it.

The way I drive my S2000 99% of the time, it is essentially a 150hp car. So 200hp is enough for me on the street. However, 520hp (FD) is NOT enough for me at the track!

I had typed out a noticeable list of cars I (and many others) would love to own with significantly less than 200 hp.
Not everything is about "twisting the chassis off the line" Cheers OP Besides, if it did get that magic 50 hp, it'd be compared to the last RX7, saying "look, it barely compares to a 20 year old car!" and how much another 50 hp would make this a Porsche/Corvette killer in the right hands and another 50 hp on top of that would be super car status and yada yada yada |

Yes, except the fact that you were being hyperbolic kind of negates your whole point. For the price range and type of car it is, the Cayman S is also underpowered. Does it have 95-125 more hp than a BRZ/FRS (depending on model year)? Yes, but it's still 100hp below a lot of other cars in its price class, and its chassis is clearly able to handle more. That doesn't make it a bad car - it's still an amazing car to drive, but it would be even better with an extra hundred horsepower or so. I feel the same about the BRZ - it's an amazing car to drive, but if you could somehow shoehorn the 3.4L 6 from a Cayman S in there (while preserving the weight/balance), it would be a much better car. Power is not inherently a bad thing.

If you want power you got the wrong car. Go get a mustang or camero. If you want some power with a low center of gravity for turns get the twin. I personally am a fan of the japanese style sport car vs american.

If you want to pass in a slow car you have to have changed gear before you have changed lanes. If you are changing gear as you change lane, you're gonna have a bad time.

Heck in rush hour traffic today I was stair stepping my way through traffic with no more than a few car lengths between cars. All it takes is downshifting to the proper gear (this means RPM's in the gear you shift to should be over 4.5k) and hitting the gas. |

A well respected tuner on here was chatting with me at willow springs raceway.. He said 250hp at the wheels is perfect for this car.. It's right there of being to much for the chassis and weight of the car... Anything 300 and over.. Your just trying to show how big your **** is... It's too much..

Man, to hear most of you guys, cars never passed one another in history up until the past 15yrs or so when 200hp became commonplace. Prior to 1990 everyone must have just drove around in single file, unable to pass a car in front of them.
Sure, if you got some asshole who doesn't want to let you pass you'll have a problem -- but you'd have a problem in damn near anything if that's the case. Minvans and Camry's have so much power that anything shy of something stupid fast can take a long time to pass if the asshole floors it. An extra 50hp doesn't make that big of a difference in passing speed time, and makes infinitely less difference if the other guys accelerates too. If someone doesn't want you to pass, it takes a very, very large difference in power to open up 2 car lengths on a guy in a reasonable distance. |

As long as there is another car that is faster than yours, youll feel underpowered. Period, Its a fact of human nature.
Bigger is better, more is better, larger is better, etc, etc etc...

A) Despite that minivan's 0-60 time of 2.3 seconds, it won't keep up with the car as the speed climbs. That "soccer mom" is driving a minivan. Pass intelligently, and start in the lowest gear that makes sense. 2) Alternatively, if being in front is so important to the female football hooligan, let it slide rather than creating a potentially dangerous situation.
