Thanks Bing! I have ptetty much the same set up you are describing I've noticed some of the same things you mentioned. A bump at 80hz, some reflection issues. Tuning by ear so far, but trying to get some RTA time. I would have to say my stage is well above the dash and plenty deep also.
Will there be a write up? Waiting impatiently!

there will be a write from me on diyma, a two parter since i am doing two FR-S back to back, with slightly different budget levels and focus, both will be active DSP, the first is higher end stuff with a bit more power, the second mid line stuff with moderate power,

will have both up hopefully by the end of the week...

these cars are a true joy to work on...like all scions

That's pretty much what I was thinking of doing, except mold in a 4" instead of a 3" mid.

Which way do you think would be best to aim the tweeters, if mounted in the A-pillars?

I actually got another set of A-pillars already and will probably mold in the tweeters when I return from overseas.

with how steeply raked the windshied is, i would say you can go relatively off axis on the A pillars with a dash pad and you will be okay, most of the reflections may not reach you. but for the best results, yo can always experiment and do it on your own. there is no perfect way imo, it all comes down to speaker, car, personal preference

Nice to have you here Bing, Mark from H Audio/Audible Physics has some Trinity hybrids he is setting up for me with a cap on them to run 500hz and up, H Audio Ebony in door locations both off the stock amp for now until i can afford to get the JBL MS-A1004 to power them. Substage is the JBL MSBassPro SQ 10" powered sub. I will post some pics once i get them here.

Very true. My tweeters are swivel mounted anyway, so I can adjust their positioning some.

i would be intersted in seeing how the full rangers perform in the dash, my guess would be that it would be pretty nice.

maybe i will get a chance to do that in a FR-S soon

I paid for mine last night hopefully Mark gets them out soon and i can post a review. I've got the JBL MSBassPro SQ 10" sub that i can remove easily if i need to take it to the track also.

but with the L3SE's and no tweet the sound quality and imaging is fantastic! Can't wait for amplifiers!
Can you post pics I am looking at going the Legatia Series front stage in my 86

Looks like I will be going the wideband route also. Stuffing some 8s in my doors and working on some xr3s for the dash.

goddamn that is a lot of money to pay for a pair of 3.7" paper drivers... still, they look very very high quality. were they a drop in for the midrange unit?

i'm 2 weeks into owning this thing and i'm already trying to figure out what i'm going to do to fix the audio...

Not to mention, to properly run a mid up in the dash, you will need to make some sort of baffle, which will not be easy.
With my 6 1/2 in the door and tweet in the dash, my soundstage is high and centered, I'm not convinced the mid in the dash is worth the trouble unless you maybe compete. Just 2 cents.
hey bud did the focals fit well?
also looking to get these for the doors
