FR-S / BRZ Front Stage

What are you all installing in the dash and doors for your front stage? I was looking at these in the dash http://www.crutchfield.com/p_136C235...50x.html?tp=96 . I would like to do components up there if we can get a 4" speaker to fit. Then I can run a 6.5 or so midbass in the door.

Trying to decide this myself, i may end up with a wideband 3" in the dash and 6.5" midbass in the doors, no tweeters ;)

I'm running Focal KRX2 mids in the doors and Dynaudio MD130 Tweeters in the dash. I would like to hear a quality 3 1/2"/4" in the dash and see what I think. As of right now I'm not convinced I like going too low in the dash. I'm crossed over at 4k and anything lower starts to get harsh. Not to mention, to properly run a mid up in the dash, you will need to make some sort of baffle, which will not be easy.
With my 6 1/2 in the door and tweet in the dash, my soundstage is high and centered, I'm not convinced the mid in the dash is worth the trouble unless you maybe compete. Just 2 cents.

Thanks for sharing. -max- , you dont think i could get away with xtc baffle in the dash? I've seen a lot of folks running 3 1/2" and I reckon that is the largest you can fit.

Joeboxer, that idea sounds pretty neat.

I've given it a lot of thought and I'll probably end up with some decent 3.5" coaxials in the dash and a 6.5" woofer in the door. I know that sounds low rent but it should be better than what is there if I improve on the existing install with dampening and such.

In order for the driver to work right, you need to separate the airspace if front of it from in back of it. You really need to completely seal the hole in the dash. I have not seen pics of anyone do it right on here yet. Not saying it has not been done, just that I have not seen it yet.

It doesnt seem like it would be too hard to just dremel off the back of the tweeter pod and build a spacer to fill that whole area.

Go for it man. I would love to hear a good 3 1/2" or 4" in the dash. See what it sounds like.

I'm going to be running the JBL MSBassPro SQ in the trunk and h audio trinity in the dash and h audio ebony in the doors, I will run them off the factory amp for now until I can afford the jbl ms-a1004 to run them active with more power.

Just found in the other thread the factory 6.5's are 2ohm so i will try to find some 2ohm drivers for the doors. In the dash i'm looking at the H Audio Trinity/Fountek FR89EX 4ohm or possibly the Dayton RS-100 which are a little cheaper and should fit pretty well.

nashsnazzy 09-28-2012 11:03 AM

Wow, 2 ohm drivers huh. I wonder if the dash speakers are 2 ohm?

If I got with 3-1/2" coaxials in the dash which ones should I get? I've thought about Infinity Kappas, Boston Acoustic, Focal, and JL Audio. Are any of these heads and shoulders better than any others?

I have Hybrid Audio L3SE's in the dash. 3.7" Wideband driver.
I am going to put in my L6V1's in the doors this weekend.

currently running off the factory deck, plan on installing my amps/carpc setup in a few weeks.

but with the L3SE's and no tweet the sound quality and imaging is fantastic! Can't wait for amplifiers!

The dash speakers are 4ohm, the only ones that are 2ohm are the ones in the doors which run off the amp in the back of the car.

How do you think that L6 is going to work off the factory amp which is only putting out 33w @2ohm? I'm tempted to put my Trinity's in the dash and leave the door speakers alone but i will wait on your review before i go any further.
