Ah~ It's Subie site, Enkei is ruling over there. lol Rota is maybe 2nd or 3rd.

and someone wrote Rota is light. No, they're not!

Anyway, to me this thread is like "PS3 or xBox360, which one is better". No winner.

We will just continue to disagree. That's fine with me. No harm no foul.

Rotas are definitely more popular than Enkeis on NASIOC. But Enkeis are well liked there. I had a set for my Z and I think they're great rims.

I agree: Rotas are usually not light. The recent DPTs, however, are actually relatively light. And they're also cross drilled for both WRX and STI hubs.

Your personal preference on what should be done is your own, and I hear ya. But it's not up for debate on what is done out on the tracks across North America.

heres what REALLY bothers me about Rota..

they copy designs from other companies and call it their own.. i dont think they have ever came up with their own design.. so they are making money with out hardly trying.. thats whats ticking me off..

comparing this to "xbox vs playstation" is not the same.. they each offer different things such as games and services..

i read on a 350z forum describing rota in an analogy.. " its like one person doing an essay and someone else erasing the name and putting in theirs to call it their own"

so would you rather whipe your rear with single quilted paper or 2ply?

dont worry its not just rota doing this..

fakewheels.com
theres an article in there how a real respectable company tested a set of 4 knock-off wheels of their own design and which only 2 passed their standard tests

i will be definitely getting a set of rotas for my next car..

definitely tired of having to worry about my rims, especially since this is my DD and ill be driving typically 18k-20k a year..

although ive never owned a set, i just never saw the advantage of having these name brand rims..

i think ive had..

racing hart
volk
gram light pros
ssr

Gram lights were bent, SSR were bent to the point that the wheel company wouldnt warranty the fix they did..

Volks ended up being slightly bent when i sold them too.

in regards to buying parts that are real or fake.. i try to buy the real ones when they are reasonably priced.. but if the real ones are like 10 times more and the quality is barely even discernible from the fakes.. im going with the fakes.

not all "cheap" brands are bad quality.. i have had a megan racing exhaust for about 3 years on my legacy and its still absolutely flawless. as opposed to this famous named brand downpipe i bought that we had to cut because it wouldn't fit right.

In the case of rims i've learned my lesson, ill try out these rotas and ill make a more informed decision on them. If i dont like them, someone will ALWAYS buy them. Unlike those expensive sets of rims that will sit unsold for months, especially in this economy.

So you only buy forged rims? And what sort of driving do you do?

For cast wheels, Rotas are very light. How many cast 15" rims do you know of that are under 13 lbs at that price?

Yeah, that's the designer jeans argument...

What the hell does toilet paper or video games have to do with anything?

Go buy your 2,000 USD set of Volks and enjoy

Nope, no bias there.
