Honestly I don't understand why people ordered these cars and waited months just to receive it. I bought mine in mid July, and all I had to do was walk in to a dealer and buy it. I had to drive a couple hours to find one I liked, but that seems worth it to me.

Anyway, OP, I don't know if you can cancel your order or not, but it might be worth looking to see if there are still some sitting on lots within a couple hundred miles. Not sure how much harder they've gotten to find I guess.

It depends on where you are located or how far away you're willing to go to get the car. Around me dealers have 30 people waiting to buy 3 cars.

Dealers will promise you almost anything to keep your business, even if they cant meet those deadlines they promised you, in hopes that you're naive or patient enough for them to satisfy you.

Your advantage as a buyer is the freedom of choice and being able to shop multiple dealerships, and that's what you should have done, or should be doing. I originally placed an order at the closest dealer to my house, but I continued looking on my own. My deposit was only a plan to fall back on, but in the end I found a car at a different dealership and didn't have to wait the two to three months the first dealership told me.

So tell me again why we need another thread about this please?
To me that just shows that it is a MAJOR concern with many buyers. A Lot of people will have this car as their one and only car. Buying a brand new car that has a history of breaking down and going into the shop for replacement parts within the first few thousands of miles for a significant percent of owners is a big concern for those who cannot be without a car. I know about 4 local people that have a FR-S or BRZ. Not one of them has had an issue.......yet. But if I was in the OP shoes I would also be concerned about the timing sensor issue.

Maybe you should just not read the threads nor respond to them if they bother you so much.

I would talk with the dealership. Maybe they will give you a loaner. GL

As part of Toyota care you would be given a loaner car, so even if it is your only car (like it is mine) that point is invalid.

I think it's good that you are waiting, Alot of the issues have been fixed at the assembly line (as i am guessing). I was just like you and wanted my FRS NOW. But after receiving my FRS in August, I am quite happy as I am not dealing with many of the problems that the first owners are having. Also I never put down a deposit on a dealership that said they could get the FRS (i wanted whiteout). I put it down on a dealership that was projected to get my color through Allocation. I called at least 10 dealerships in my area.
Hope this helps.

I got my car in the second week of June. I was daily driving it 100+ miles daily. It currently has about 6200 miles. But I moved it into the garage. I haven't had any issues with the CEL, knock on wood! Most of the people that got the CEL got it right away, within the first 1k miles. But, to be safe I would just wait til the next model year

Why is everyone beating Toyota up for a Subaru engine issue? Anyway knowing how these two companies work any issue has already been root cause analized and countermeasured. I'd bet anything built after 7/15 or so has already been checked and either tossed in the bin or repaired at the factory.
