Waiting since May...and may cancel

Hi all. I ordered an FR-S manual in May and waited about 2 months for an auto to show up instead. The dealer apologized and ordered another car, this time bothering to check which version was actually being shipped and my car will be here in 3 weeks.

The problem is...the CEL issue is causing me major worry because I cannot be without a car...especially a damn brand new one, for any length of time. I will be commuting in the
FR-S and now I am afraid it will strand me.

OMG. Can we please have another thread about this?! You're like the 3rd guy this week to start this thread.

Bottom line: it's a brand new car, it might have a few hick-ups. Also WAY MORE CARS ARE JUST FINE than have issues.

Chillax man :bonk:

With the CEL issue you have a slight chance of getting the same problem. If you are really worried about not having a commuter I would cancel the order and maybe pick up next year's model. Or you can talk to your dealer to see if they will put you in a rental if something does pop up like that.

Edit: Unless you signed a contract saying you will take shipment of the vehicle you should be able to cancel the order with your dealership. These things are flying off the boats and someone is bound to pick the same options as you.

I don't know what it is. But a lot of people on here have been getting an attitude, about some stupid shit. lets just all calm down. and get along

welcome to the forums... anyways don't worry about the problems with the car. iv owned mine since the 11th of august, I have 500 miles i have no problems as of now. So keep your hopes up and get the car! you will be impressed

mashal 09-06-2012 12:55 AM

All the issues are on a very small number of cars .. Most of the guys in town haven't has any issues at all.. One of us got 13500 km and no problems

Hotlava86 09-06-2012 12:58 AM

People really need to chill, reason being is its a big issue and people have every right to be nervous about buying a new car that is having a big issue and when it is having said issue could be in the shop for over a month. Just because there may only be 50-70 people on this forum registered their VIN saying they've had the issue doesn't mean that EVERY single car has been accounted for. i highly doubt that every single one of the 7-8000 owners are on this site routinely meaning there could be many many more people that are having this issue infact my service manager informed me that over 200 owners have already brought their cars back for this reason. I have not had the issue yet and it makes me nervous every day because i have the symptoms yet no CEL. So people need to not be harsh to people that are nervous about things.

I thought the purpose of this forum was to discuss the car?

My experience with Scion up to this juncture has not been spectacular, so if I take delivery of a 2013 FR-S that has the remote chance of an unpredictable failure as I am leaving the dealership (on some examples), neither I nor Scion are going to enjoy the corollary.

This is the scenario I am fearing. Contrary to your point, this is not acceptable for a new car of any manufacture, and certainly not one with an outstanding reliability register such as Toyota.

The main problem here is that it appears I will have to become a gambling man?

You're correct, but let's find some of the other threads ON THIS EXACT topic that others have already started.

As Xanatos stated, some dealerships will give you a rental / other toyota/scion to drive while yours is being serviced for a warranty issue. Talk to your dealership about this, you shouldn't have to be without a car if thats the only worry.

I see.

I would venture to guess, given your responses and presence in those threads, that you are attempting to become some champion of the issues at hand?

Also, perhaps there is a reading comprehension course available in the evening for you to attend, because of the threads you list, one is actually the same as mine, is it not?

Am I being direct? Yes. Am I trying to help? Also yes. I showed you one thread where you can discuss weather to buy the car or not, then a few others about the exact issues and experiences that are being had.

Sorry.

slowride 09-06-2012 01:35 AM

I appreciate the assistance, thank you.

As previously mentioned in one of the threads you linked, my VIN number looks very different than what anyone else has linked. My car was built on 8/28, so I wonder if I could get lucky.
