Have you tried running even less in the front and more I'm the back to maybe lessen the front bias? It's also likely I just can't push these tires 10/10ths to find these weaknesses, haha. I really appreciate the input! I understand if this is simply fruitless conversation since you don't like the tires, but as I said, I love hearing what others have to say. Sorry if I'm derailing or whatnot.
I'm running a 2psi split front to rear - 30F/32R. I'm going to see if running any lower pressures up front will cause the tire to rollover, maybe 28 or 29. There's a test and tune this weekend so I'll test it out then. But yea, your experience will be different since it's not an autox environment.

No problem. But keep in mind that the car is restricted to only the SSC (class) allowed modifications. So your pressures could be different depending on set up, preference, temps, surface, etc...

Yep yep. I bought them because of how heavily discounted they are for the SSC class. I will be running unclassed with SCCA if i run with them. I am lucky to have several autocross clubs in the area and can pretty much race almost every weekend throughout the summer for maximum seat time. I am interested to see how these hold up, as i will have them on the track later this year.

I'll be playing with pressures as well, but a good baseline is always good.

^ I see from that you have a GD STi. Here's a video from yesterday. The description on the video pretty much sums up what I think of the Falkens.

Very sloppy messy driving.

Taking Ls since putting on the Falkens. It's taking me a long time to figure them out. It almost seems like you have to power through the understeer and don't pay attention to the screaming, shuddering, tires.

Great course design. I like that didn't flow perfectly smooth and made you think of your braking / turn in points. I was caught late in a few elements.

Settings for this event..

Front: -3.4* camber | 5.2 caster | 0 toe | soft bar | full stiff rebound | 29psi
Rear: -2.0* camber | 1/8th toe in | stiff bar | 1-turn from full stiff rebound | 32psi

eh more sloppy driving. The Falkens feel good when temps are below 60*. It was in the mid 50s during the event and the tires weren't as pushy. If somehow I can make the tires feel like this when temps go beyond 65*, I'd be very happy with SSC. I just have no clue how to make the car rotate off throttle when it gets warmer.

Also, I tried even pressures F/R and felt great.

The rear toe-in helps with stability but probably not with rotation. Also, while 1-turn from full soft on the rear shocks isn't crazy-stiff, setting it softer will allow more weight to transfer to the front tires and help the car turn when off throttle and/or braking.

I run zero rear toe and 1/4 turn from full soft in the rear. (I drive in SW FL heat and spray the tires early and often) The car turns well off throttle with these settings, but the throttle requires more care out of turns, and harsh breaking will overload the front and make her plow ugly.

It's definitely a trade off. The car does what I want, but I have to "ask nicely".

Decided to stick to SSC.

I can't explain it, but the car feels the best with max rebound F/R and full stiff FSB/RSB. I get the least amount of understeer and it feels as good as it's going to get.

Some maintenance at ~39k miles.
  • Alignment
    F -3.4 camber | 5.6 caster | 1/16th toe out
    R -2.0 camber | 0 toe
  • Swapped to Hawk HPS pads F/R.

Maintenance at 40k miles.
  • Oil change with Motul 0w20 with subaru filter

Car felt twitchy from the cold temps. The finish had a crazy moose test.

Very sloppy. I couldn't find my way through the track. I was late in most corners. I think I need glasses.
