It's funny how my car gets autocrossed in the summer, and then COVERED in salt and thrashed in every major snow storm in the winter, and ice raced... and yet so far more than two years later, she still cleans up to look like new. I'm waiting for that to change though.

Nope because I would probably be stuck with the rest of them trying to run all season tires!

I hate to ruin the joke but I don't know who that is. I'm guessing Ice something or other.
I guess the local equivalent would be this Guy.

His hair looks like ice....It does get frosty here but usually only snows in the mountains. Maybe it snows once every 7 years or so.

To get back on topic I actually tore a belly pan on a Mazda3 in Kentucky. It wasn't the 5-6 inches of snow so much as the layer of ice on top of it. I'm glad I don't have to deal with that anymore. Though a set of chains is required to cross the Trinity Alps this time of year. I haven't had to head east in the winter. The mountain passes here are bad enough when it's rainy though. I'm still on all-seasons because I'm a greedy bastard and haven't had to traverse highway 299 or 36 in the winter.

I couldn't resist leaving a few sarcastic comments about how "2WD should be banned in the snow"

Seriously, too much AWD Koolaid being imbibed there....

If you think you need awd to navigate snowy conditions, you're just a terrible driver.

The fun part is that most of those AWD drivers think they can run all season tires because those other two wheels make up for things.
In the last two weeks I have had to stop my RWD car 4 times to help push stuck AWD cars out of the way so I could precede. Not one of them had snow tires and 3 out of the 4 thought I was insane for saying they should get them (even though they were currently stuck on the same road I was driving down). Just the other day I snowplowed the road with my lowered RWD car so a WRX could get down the street.

It's best not to think about it. For every minute of empty parking lot romping, you'll endure hundreds of dreary traffic jams and being stuck behind turtles in the left lane.
