I don't have a header on my BRZ, but I had my header and downpipe coated by Swain on my Jeep. Pricey, but I think it was worth it. Swain's coating is about twice as thick as Jet Hot.

I did it more for the effect of the heat on the speed of the exhaust than for heat control under the hood. When the BRZ is out of warranty I intend to buy a header, and I'll probably send it to Swain as well.

I don't know how the headers for the twins hold up, but there are a lot of stories on the Jeep boards of people ruining I6 and V8 headers by wrapping them. Because the wraps are not perfect, they have pockets where moisture can condense and rust the shit out of everything (yes, even on stainless). They are also not as consistent as the ceramic coatings, so that the heat isn't retained evenly. Wrapping a 4.0L I6 header pretty much guarantees cracks at the collector. I would expect the same kind of problems on the twins.

I personally wouldn't waste my time with a wrap, when the ceramic coating is going to outperform, outlast and outprotect.

I believe around 165whp. Also back in late 2013 or early 2014 i was tuned there on 93 and made around 186whp with cheap header ,stock op, 2.75 catback, and injen intake

I know it's got issues but I gave him two possible choices the cheap way and the expensive way

If you wrap it properly with stainless steel ties and such it should be fine, I'm more worried about something getting on them and starting a fire.

The pics you are referring to is pics of the box when it was being built. The tape was there to hold it in place while the fiberglass mounting tabs dryed. The box was bolted in after lol. There is no plasti dip on the car. Its all vinyl wrap

No pepboys parts on this car haha.almost everything was custom made. And i dont see how its "gone wrong" if it runs a 13.75 and makes 221whp.

lol it was a great pic! Mhe vinyl wraps and plasti dips all fall under the same category if you ask me, but legit question why was the car 4250 pounds or whatever for the dyno run data?

I say he's telling the truth, however it is definitely not the bolt on record it's impossible to prove that.
You are kind of right, its hard to compare since all dynos read a bit different. I plan on eventually putting it on a dyno jet to get a more accurate number, but it is not such a major concern. But this does prove that i am the one of the highest whp na brz/frs out there if not the highest. Im setting my sites on the 1/4 mile record now because id rather be a quarter mile king than a dyno queen. Only .43 sec i need to shave off to beat it

Not to mention our headers are protected by a shield, and probably won't see as much water as an off-road vehicle. Either way, coat them or wrap them...they hug the oil pan and you don't want that excess heat in your oil.

See how easy it was? I helped you prove your point.

But could please stop putting up recordings of videos? Like seriously, you have it playing on VLC, so obviously you've got a rear cam setup recording and saving in some sort of loss less video format why not just upload that to youtube, instead of uploading a video of a video.

Gruppe-s is selling a heatshield for the oil pan if you're interestd but yea wrap or coat, also we have a splash shield that cuts down on a lot.
