Another question i have. This might be a very stupid question but i will ask anyway haha. So without SC, I hit 70mph at around 3000rpm in 5th gear, with Vortech SC will i hit 70 mph at a much lower rpm or more in the same gear? Thats where i am usually at when cruising on freeway anyway. Thanks

Same RPM, gearing doesn't change. You'll just run through the gears faster.

Will you need to upgrade you exhaust system if you boost?
Will you need to upgrade ANYTHING if you boost?
I know high PSI requres a build, but what's a decent PSI to run that will gave it some more fun power, without needing to build the engine?

The standard kit comes with boost designed for the stock motor.

The clutch might not hold up for too long at these power levels though.

That isn't true... Jeff Perrin @PERRIN has been running the vortech since it was released, he drives it A TON and is not nice to it. He is still on stock clutch.

A 2.87" S/C Pulley = 52,166 @ 7,400 engine rpm, which is beyond the maximum impeller speed, and therefore we would advise against utilizing with this system.
.
So at these impeller RPM, what kind of PSI would we be looking at?
Can the stock engine handle all of these no problem?

Also, what sort of exhaust would I need, or can that be stock as well? (I'll probably get the Perrin 2.5" because it sounds awesome)

As long as you get the 25mm version, it is a direct replacement.
It even comes with a blocking plate so you can either block off the standard vent port, or the "loud" vent port depending on how you want it.

I also adjusted the spring pre-load on mine, the boost pressure seems to be even more "instant" when going from vacuum to WOT. Perhaps it transitions from open/closed(Sealed) a little quicker, not sure.

So I can have it on the "loud" port if desired? It still does release constantly while below like 3/4 throttle right? Would that mean the release is really loud too?

can you explain the second part some more? did you mean that it blows off in lower rpms as well?

Basically the exit with the barbed end has a cutout into the chamber a little lower, so when only small amounts of pressure need to be bled off it dumps to that port.

The exit with the "horn" on it has the cutout higher, so that the piston has to travel much higher to dump air that way. Normal idle /cruise air dump is mostly/all out of the barbed exit, and it only vents to the "horn" exit during letoff at high rpm when there is boost in the charge pipes/vacuum in the manifold.

The barbed end is threaded into the body of the valve, as well as the horn end. You can swap them to whatever configuration you desire, or install the blockoff plate.

I only hear a loud release if I am cruising at very high RPM, or during shifting/letoff at high rpm. By high RPM I'm talking above 5K.

I could dial it in more using the adjustable spring to make it happen sooner/later, but it works just fine on any setting. I tried full soft up to about 75% tighter, and it just works. Always seals up when it should, and lets off excess when iti should

i guess the horn would be the one i want since it's the loudest and it seems i would need to adjust the spring to where it blows off even at like 3 haha. i just love the sound.

I started the install, so far so good! only bad thing is that I placed my bumper in the grass when I took it off so it wouldn't get scratches, and the dam wind caught it and flipped into the drive way and scratched it.

Something I haven't really seen mentioned yet.

How well does the Vortech tune support an upgraded exhaust system to include headers?
I was checking out the Perrin Overpipe, Frontpipe, midpipe, and catback system and was thinking about combining that with the Borla UEL headers.

I did see a post about the Visconti tuning providing enough fuel for headers so I was wondering how the vortech tuning held up
