Buick doesn't have one sports car, does that mean they NEED one, no. And I feel the same way for Toyota, just let the younger brand take this car as their flagship and, as their flagship I think they could muddle with the price more acceptably. Also this would not be the first time the US market gets a Toyota under a different brand-name. They are appealing this car to the masses and the masses will go to Scion for a youthful, well priced coupe before Toyota, just look at the lineup recently, its not who they are anymore. Either way I think this would be the logic of the people at Toyota, even though I would rather say 'I' drive a Toyota than a Scion. In the end I will be in the Subaru though

I wouldn't like to see 86 anywhere in the "name" simply cos it relates to the year of release of the original Hachi, and well, the FT-86 will (FCUK i hope) not be released in 2086. But yeah, it is supposed to be the "NEW HACHI"
![]() That being said, It would be cool to tell people : "I drive a Corolla GT-X" But i guess Ultimately it all depends on the FINAL production version and / or specs of the car

And second that may be nice, but as this is simply a spiritual successor not a nother corolla model I would rather they give it a new name, something it can make its own, so that its whole life people aren't constantly trying to compare it to the 86. Cause we all know, there will always be the people saying it will never measure up to the old 86 no matter amazing it is, and those people will forever be putting it down. I know people have said it before on here, I know i've said it before on here, and I am saying it again, I hope toyota gives this beauty a whole new name that she can completely make her own.

Technology has come a long way in the last 2 decades. You can't honestly believe the cars to be similar. The closest thing we'll get to similar is the core principle. Lightweight, RWD, fun to drive. |

You misunderstood me, and I forgot to add a very important line to that sentence.
"Cause we all know, there will always be the people saying it will never measure up to the old 86 no matter amazing it is." I'm not saying it won't measure up, in fact I don't think the two should be compared except in a very loose way. Yes they are going for the idea that was the very essence of the original, but they are in no way trying remake the original. After saying all of this and looking at what you posted we are saying basically the exact same thing. You may be better at putting to words what you mean, but I mean the same thing u are saying. |

GTX is a great shout, i would totally love to say i drive a GT-X i wouldnt mind HRG either, Hachi Roku Gsports but HRG sounds too bulky for such a sleek car maybe a THR (Toyota Hachi Roku) is more fitting, sounds sleeker, or Toyota Shadow 86 or Toyota BEAST 69
