Lol you have road signs. In PA, back roads were often built between farm plots, which causes a number of sharp 90s to appear randomly. Of course, we barely have enough money to pave the road on a good day, so we are on our own when it comes to figuring out how sharp a corner is. And you have to hope anyone coming the other way judges correctly on left handers.

Anyway, back on topic. Wait, was that 86s or Miatas?

Could be. The MGB was designed as a convertible, but the MGB GT was 100 lbs lighter.

If they just slapped a top on the existing car like BMW did with the Z3, it would gain weight. If they wanted to lighten up the Miata with a coupe version, they could.

Yep, I understand, dangerous in more ways than one, during deer season.

When I was living in Connecticut, down at the end of the road (see yellow pin) was a 1,000 acre estate owned by the Huntington family. They since have given it to the state and it's called Huntington State Park.

I secured permission from the caretaker to access the property on an as desired basis. So, my sons (10 & 12 at the time) and I would go hiking, hunting, camping almost every weekend.

EXCEPT ...... during deer hunting season! Why not during deer hunting season..?? Because, the city slickers from NYC (about 50 miles away) would buy a deer tag, rent a .30-06 rifle and ...... shoot at ANYTHING that moved in the woods!

THE END

Roll isn't necessarily a bad thing. It tells you about the grip you have left. It also means softer springs for a better ride. This is a philosophy I approve of. Too bad I don't approve of Miata ergonomics. Wait, that's an oxymoron.

It's still closed during hunting season. There are now some really fantastic mt bike trails in there. I go ~once a year.

Sales tax is paid where you register the vehicle. If you're registering the car in North Carolina, how would California collect any tax on it?

Damned Hutts!

It's weird that I can't find any documentation of that. Can you provide a link?

Still looking. Still can't find anything forcing an out of state buyer to pay any "HUT," "highway use tax" or any other sort of tax to CA in a private sale. I can't find a requirement to pay it, nor can I find any mechanism to force you to pay it even if there were a requirement.

I'm thinking that's because it's not a requirement.

Not Purchased for Use in California
If you purchase your vehicle for use outside of California, your purchase may not be subject to use tax.

However, when a vehicle purchased outside of California, is first functionally used outside of California, and is brought into California within 12 months from the date of its purchase, it is presumed that the vehicle was purchased for use in California and is subject to use tax if any of the following occur:

The vehicle is purchased by a California resident.
The vehicle is subject to California DMV registration during the first 12 months of ownership.
If purchased by a nonresident of California, the vehicle is used or stored in California more than one-half of the time during the first 12 months of ownership.
Functional use means use for the purposes for which the vehicle was designed. For example, vehicles designed for personal use are functionally used when merely driven; however, vehicles such as busses or trucks designed for a commercial or other special purpose (e.g., transportation or passengers or property) are not functionally used until used for that purpose.

If the vehicle enters California within 12 months of purchase, you may overcome the presumption that the vehicle was purchased for use in California by providing the following documentation to support your claim:

A copy of your purchase contract.
A statement signed by the seller verifying the date and location of the vehicle's delivery out of state.
Evidence of registration with the proper out-of-state authority.
Evidence of tax paid to another state.
Documentation to show the use and location of the vehicle outside of California, such as receipts for meals, lodging or campgrounds, and fuel for the first 12 months of ownership.
Credit card/bank statements or cell phone bills supporting the use of the vehicle outside of California.
