I just found out that my part(s) won't arrive until 9/4 and I won't be surprised if it gets pushed out further as the number of cases grows. We'll see how that goes. Regarding warranty work, I suspect it depends on the buyer when you sell your car; some will be pickier than others, especially concerning major engine repair.

Yeah I just imagine a situation in my head of trying to sell the car 5-10 years from now. I can just see the guy looking at my VIN and saying "Oh this was in range of that major manufacturing flaw they had on all the 2013 models. See ya!"

Not gonna let that happen.

Add me to the list as well. picked her up 8/20, drove for about 40 miles, CEL came on (no shaking or RPM dip at that point) drove it back to the dealership, they cleared the code and I put another 800 miles or so on it since then with no problem.

Yesterday - CEL came back on, along with the idle/car shaking syndrome Brought her immediately to the dealer, they called already and stated I can pick it up tomorrow. (I have yet to find out what they did, the girl on the phone had no clue what she was really talking about lol, so I will update more info when I pick her up tomorrow after talking to an actual tech). I highly doubt its "fixed" and it will just be a matter of time before I as well have to leave her there for weeks at a time

I wouldn't even pick it up if I was you. They obviously don't want to deal with the issue and are hoping you don't too. I'm leaving my car there until the issues are fixed. So far 9 days and the Cam Sprocket fix didn't work.

I'm gonna crawl through your other posts now, but I think that's all the evidence I need to go with the lemon law on this one.
Same here - whole list of parts already replaced, no luck. Nine days as of today at Scion. The cam sprocket fix didn't work - they think the one they received was defective. They've ordered another one (also called a camshaft controller - that manages timing) - and they have no ETA. They have already replaced the ECU, both TTvi's, 4 o rings and an oil solenoid in bank 2 with no luck in getting rid of the CEL. Two visits by techs from Toyota headquarters and nothing to show for it.

This potentially tells me a few things: 1) Subaru/Toyota still aren't sure how to properly fix this problem 2) Their parts supplier quality control is terrible 3) Your dealer techs may not have installed the new parts properly

Sorry about your troubles, what you guys are going through is ridiculous...

I am in the same boat. Parts for my car should be here this week but whose to know that they will "fix" the issue. I hope it does get fixed tho!

Good to you bro.

I'm curious why most of you guys are leaving your car at the dealership while parts are being ordered? Is it because the dealership won't let you take it back? Or is the problem so bad that your car is not driveable? Or are you trying to run up days at the dealer so that you can have a case for the lemon law? Or you're just disgusted with the car and don't want it back until it's fixed? Or something else?

My CEL came on yesterday with just over 2,000 miles on my FR-S (MT), VIN 7026XX. I've had mild RPM fluctuations at idle with the AC on, but nothing that I'd remotely call violent. It has never come close to stalling, although now that I've said that it'll probably do so on my next drive. With the AC off, the idle is just fine. I haven't felt anything abnormal with engine power or anything else in the two and a half months I've had the car.

All these horror stories of waiting for parts, then having them installed and not fixing the problem combined with my general distrust in dealer service departments make me want to just keep driving the car with the CEL until a definitive fix is found. Is anyone else keeping theirs away from the dealer? Is the problem so bad that your idle is fluctuating wildly every time you come to a stop?

my guess is if the CEL light is on and you force the dealer to give the car back to you to drive while waiting for parts, that's like given them the golden chicken nugget excuse to say that "you have made the damage irreparable, we don't have to honor warranty, bye!"

The answer is - we really don't know what effect continuing to drive our cars will have. Most dealers are advising that owners bring them in as soon as these symptoms appear. Nearly all seem to be supplying loaner cars.

I wouldn't want to take the chance that continued driving might further damage my car, even though it was certainly driveable when I took it in.

Also, the only way you can begin the process of taking advantage of your state's lemon law (if it has one) is to allow the dealer to have a go at fixing the problem.

At any rate, that's my 2 cents.

14 days for an ECU is roughly commensurate with the time it would take to go out and do a new spin of the boards, which may be what's happening. In other words, the reason I need to wait so long is that the new, magical ECU to Rule Them All hasn't actually been manufactured yet.

They can keep mine, in fact I hope the parts are delayed as much as possible. I can't wait for the 30 day mark. Going straight to the State Lemon Law and getting my $26,000 down payment on a 370z.

I'm curious since my new ecu fixed my cel issue and I do have the new flash version, if we could reflash someone else's car with mine to see if it would fix the issue on theirs.
