This would be very costly and I think more than a supercharger. Plus to really benefit cams it would need a forged bottom to rev.
It almost seems like the non-intercooled innovate only consistently gains 15 hp over a NA header/tune, if you believe HKS they get 200 rwhp. Its like all the innovate is doing is taking the stock intake manifold out of the picture. You have to wonder if an custom intake manifold, headers, and tune could match the non-intercooled innovate. Guess I would rather see a good intake manifold before pulling the engine to install cams. But hopefully with this new open source tuning we will get some real gains with the hot innovate, I honestly think the intercooler prices it way too high ($4500?)

An idiot would install a supercharger on their dd that is only worth a dam with E85, I'm trying to get to the bottom of things to avoid that mistake.

Looks like vortech has a new upgrade path, for around 16psi without over spinning the supercharger.
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showp...&postcount=866 Most potential = vortech. By that I mean wastegating at 9psi which means it can run 93, 5.4psi at 2500, 9 psi around 4200rpm

Do you find your Vortech "lacking" in mid-range torque needing the wastegating? The complaint with centr. chargers has always been that for the money you don't gain much in a bigger powerband, mainly just up top (in comparison to a pos disp or turbo.)

![]() And no I'm plenty fine with my power band, and its quite large as u can see. But I'm lazy so it's tuned for 92 octane with the stock pulley, I'm sitting on my 12.5 psi pulley till I install my wastegate/ebc

You are correct that the complaint most folks have with centris is that peak boost is only achieved at redline with a linear growth from the bottom. Upgrading the system to allow hitting peak boost lower in the powerband (by way of smaller pulleys or other means) means that you'll overspin beyond that point. The wastegate bleeds off that excess boost so that the power growth is no longer linear, but more of a hockey stick - expands to peak before redline, then maintains that peak boost until the end. |
