I actually prefer it switching back and forth. I turn away and try to listen if I can hear a difference and I surely can. If the Perrin CAI wasn't so time consuming to install (and to clean the filter), then I'd dump my Grimmspeed intake in a heartbeat.

EDIT: Actually after listening to this video: [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tXfy3VSuWsU"]Toyota 86 Perrin CAI comparison - YouTube[/ame] I'm falling more in love with the Perrin CAI. Ebay has them for $270 shipped new which isn't going to help my wallet at all.

This is coming from a honda background where an intake made your 1.6L bark and growl. I had an AEM CAI on a late 90's civic si. Yea I know its gimmicky but hey it adds to the experience...

So my question is - which of the available intakes can get something nice and loud, similar to the Honda vtecs? Or will they all sound like the TRD...?

Experiences and suggestions appreciated!

I find my intake sounds way more refined and generally better with the TRD intake.

Any opinions on the AEM?

Couldn't find any videos of it except for the dsport one - which I don't trust because the TRD sounded in the video but was a huge disappointment in person.

Intakes make very little power on this car.
If you want sound, go back to stock and use the sound tube and buy the trd sound changer. Otherwise look for something with a metal tube and a cone filter.

It's under the intake in the pic.

If you're looking for the Honda sound, the injen intake is the closest to what you're looking for. It is very loud. The GrimSpeed is probably second.
