EDIT:

Send an email to anyone on this list, i don't see a Rich on the list of Exec's so i say you get the answer from the horses mouth. I have never heard of a car being cut from autocross (in canada anyway) for having loud tires. Cars with testpipes, maybe, but not tires.

or try another club?

Just so you understand why I believe him, check this out.

That's him racing for VCMC. Don't get me wrong, I'm hoping he's actually incorrect. But I also realize he knows his stuff. He even thinks the last FR-S autocross VCMC held was on RComps because they wouldn't let them run the stock tires.

Either way, I need to look into this further because I'd love to run autocross ASAP. I've almost completed the break in procedure.

There are always bylaws that organizing clubs follow when hosting an event. If VCMC has a sound bylaw then they must adhere to it.

If it's a CACC sound bylaw then all clubs would have to follow it, if it's not a CACC ruling then just run with a different club until you get yourself some stickers and quieter tires

That's exactly the plan right now. Hence the reason why I would love to go out to Richmond this weekend and play around in the mall parking lot.

As I said, I hope Rich is wrong. I'll have to reach out to VCMC as you suggested for full clarification. What sort of slap in the face is it to us FR-S drivers when Scion hosts a VCMC event only to later be told by VCMC that we can't race on stock tires? I even mentioned this to Phil (regional scion rep) at the Scion Launch Party so he was aware of the possible issue. Hopefully we can get Phil to twist a few arms for us if needed.

I need to get back onto the local forums and sort this out.

I thought I should reply to this email and clarify a few things I said earlier.

I checked with VCMC and they will infact allow us to run the OEM tire on the FR-S. But there is a catch. The catch is, if they think the car is too loud (same with all summer tires not just the FR-S) they can ask you to stop running completely.

Now some of the VCMC guys have said that the OEM tire is no good for learning simply because I'll exceed the noise level trying to approach the limit of the tires. So therefore I'll never really get a good idea of where the limit is due to the fact that I'll be avoiding the limits because of noise.

That being said, I personally plan on attending the next VCMC event on my OEM tires just so I can get some seat time. Seat time is more important to me right now.

Do you not have to attend their new rider classes before you can actually get seat time at their events?

Nope but you have to register and listen to their briefing.
