You could. But you are one of 100,000 special snowflakes.

Buy a tS in japan, you are one of 500 special snowflakes. Exclusivity and resale value. None of that is aquired through modification of a base model vehicle.

Exclusivity definitely is, but you are right about resale value.

I disagree, there is nothing keeping anyone of these yahoos from recreating exactly what you did.

Modifying your car however you see fit makes you 1 of 1 special snowflakes.

If one of the main concerns of a person is resale value, then perhaps they shouldn't be modifying cars to begin with.

Resale is not my concern, in a previous post I was listing reasons why people would want those items from the factory.

and Like I said in another post.

There is nothing keeping someone else from recreating what you did. You are not unique.

The same could be said about the "limited release" cars. One can literally buy every piece to replicate the car. The only difference is the validation from the car company. If you require that to feel "special" then that's an entirely different topic.

While it may only apply to handful of people, if you think about it, it's kind of the same between the wrx and wrx sti. You can buy a wrx for like 8k cheaper than an sti and with that money, you can build something pretty cool, or basically build an sti. However, by spending the extra on the upgraded version (sti) from the get go, you end up not having/wanting to adress a lot of things.

For instance, the sti has the better transmission, better overall drivetrain, better brakes, better wheels etc etc etc.

The BRZ Ts is basically a BRZ limited with some of the extra boxes checked. So for somebody who wanted a BRZ with better brakes and better or additional interior/exterior accesories, the Ts offers that. All that would be left is maybe a set of wheels and more power if they chose.

If the BRZ Ts was offered here and I chose to get one, I would simply get a set of 18" Advans, KW Coilovers, and the JR CARB legal supercharger kit and be done with it. Where as right now with a current BRZ limited, I would want those pieces in addition to: Brembo brakes, STI lip kit, gunrey flap, STI interior pieces, etc etc and the list goes on.

To some people, it's worth it to spend the extra up front and less in parts, while others would rather spend less up front and spend more making it something very specific to their liking.

Neither way is wrong though.

Agreed.

This is essentially the debate between the FR-S/BRZ all over again in different form. Not everyone modifies their cars so I see this as merely another "package" car that caters to certain needs and wants of a consumer.

Well I personally feel that the brz ts (not even a real tS if you ask me if it doesn't come with everything a real tS has) is worth every penny of that 36 grand.

Yes!
This forum is the worst place to try to identify the "normal" owner of these cars. Many , many of them are owned by people that want some stuff but just like to jump in and turn a key.
My car came with pretty much every TRD bolt on available at the time it was built up. I didn't pay full price for them as I made a great deal but I would have if they hadn't budged or had them installed if all they had was bone stock. I have the ability to do it all myself but no longer have the desire since I have other hobbies (really I do) that I would rather spend my time on. We don't all want to mess around with getting and installing parts but do want the advantages of having them.
If these BRZs had been out when I bought then I would have had a more difficult decision to make.

With the way things are going, I believe the twins may be able to rival the Silvia in how many special edition and limited run renditions of the car are released after it's all said and done.
