Addition to Turbo95, none of my Toyota dealerships carried the Whiteout colour so I went to Subie. It's called, Satin White Pearl, 37J.

So I watched the video and I'm about to buy all the materials, but he mentions "color coat & clear coat" and then also says "touch up paint." He didn't use "touch up paint" in the video. Am I missing something here?

Touch up paint should mean colour coat.
But the way he does it is mix, colour coat and clear. If you've got the time, go for the just color, color until it's almost level with everything then clear. It takes a lot of colour layers though. I've went through 5 coats and a few days to get it to level. Use your own judgement to see if it's worth the time for you.

I have so many un-repairable chips... I gave up after 5 months.... Now I drive like it's meant to be.

If you really care about the car and you have a few chips on the same panel, I would get the whole thing Sprayed. If you don't have the money, just spray one panel at a time. Those touch up pens are good for hiding the rust for the time being or a not so noticeable place. I have a 2015 Satin White BRZ. I have 2 gallons of it Code 37J and a Spray gun. I did my front bumper, mostly underneath and it came out Perfect.

I noticed this past weekend when cleaning the car that I've acquired 2 new rock chips over the winter. One on the fender over the headlight, and one on the A pillar. Both are showing a bit of rust, which scares me.

Can I simply sand these small areas and touch up? Or will the rust continue to spread under? If I should sand, how do I get an abrasive in the small area (about the size of a nail head or smaller) without scuffing up the surrounding good paint in the process?

And finally, dealer or online for paint matching? SWP/Whiteout/37J is a pain in the ass to match, I know, but my main concern is rust prevention.

Thanks.

Take it in for a paint surface....forgot what its called. They do small touch ups and remove swirls. $1k job but it brings back brand new look and gloss!~

I did my spring deep clean this afternoon and found 21 shiny new chips so consider yourself lucky! I have a couple of hours with he touch up pen ahead of me.
I have one very deep chip/ding on my fender that I have left bare as an experiment for how bad things will rust. After a year and through two very salty Canadian winters it is just now starting to develop surface rust so don't panic over a couple of chips.

Pick up a spot sanding pen at any automotive supply place. They work great and can hit those small spots. Word of warning though. Make sure you wear gloves since the little fibers break off and will embed in your skin. They hurt like a bitch!

I've already got the surface rust, which is what bothers me. Afraid of it spreading and getting further under the paint enough to necessitate a respray or something. Although, I've got some bumper damage front and rear from parking lot hits so I was considering a spray or wrap anyway, but still I hate knowing it's there.

Did you source your paint from the auto store too, or does everyone recommend dealer for touch-up paint?

Just got mine from the dealer. No touch up will be 100% but it works well enough that people that don't know where it was done have to squint in just the right light to find it and it does not show up in pics at all no matter how I take the. I of course know where each one is so they jump out like beacons to me and my wife thinks I am insane.

I know that feeling. To me, every blemish stands out, but most people don't even notice major changes like wheels/tires or suspension mods, so paint chips are almost a non-issue. It just is an irritant for us.

I'll pick up some paint from the dealer and check out that pen, thanks for the tips.
