Got a K&N drop in filter from ATS as well about a year back. Seems if you wanna bring it from overseas you will have to pay 20% customs plus 14%vat if they decide to check your package.

I personally have the TRD drop in. I really really like it. Not like an insane increase in power but 1-2whp is actually noticeable

So does anyone know if the TRD drop-in filter is washable/re-useable?

Why swap back to stock? Is it just to prevent "rocking the boat" so to speak? It just sounds rather tame as far as mods go.

Or is it to be cheap and score the replacement that they give you at the service

Yep, I have heard of car companies denying engine warrenty repairs due to coilover suspension, they usually look for any excuse.

Since it only takes 5min to swap, I think its worth it.

AND, like you said, you want the new replacement filter which you paid for in the purchase of your car anyway

Sigh, what a sad situation. On the one hand, I understand their position (because I'm sure a lot of chops have too much entitlement as to what should or should not be fixed under warranty), but the way people get shafted and blamed is just unnecessary >.>

I think a filter is next on my list, seems pretty fool-proof

I put the original filter back in this morning before taking it in for its service, and wow, felt like the car was gasping for air on the way to the dealership..... Driving it back to back definitely shows the difference a performance filter makes.

You sure this isn't placebo? What I mean is, before you put the filter in, I'm sure you thought the car drives fantastically right? What feedback did you get from the car that felt different? Not trying to argue, I'm considering buying one and it's good info

I agree that 5HP is hardly going to make a difference, yet I definitely felt the car wasn't pulling as strongly when pushing on a bit. If you look at how thick the standard filter is, and compare it to the K&N filter I have in, there is less air getting into the engine with the stock filter, without a doubt..... and having said all of that, it is also probably a bit of placebo affect as well, but hey, its one of the cheaper modding options out there, so why not. Also just to add, Bedfordview Toyota didn't even bat an eyelid at my BRZ exhaust, so I'm sure I could have left the K&N in as well.
