When I overtake cars, it goes like this:
So, Hyundai excel driver, you want to race eh? You know what I let you drive ahead first. So the Excel went ahead of me. Moved to next lane, my car is on the lane next to the Hyundai, front bumper approximately next to the Hyundai's rear bumper... then floored pedal. Then engine went Brrraappppp.... After 3 seconds flooring, my car finally slowly moving closer and closer and now my driver side window is approaching his side window - in a second or 2 we would see eye to eye... Now my car finally finally parallel to his... My plan was to look at him, make some eye contact and winked before I smoked his sorry ass Hyundai and disappeared into sunset. Eye contact made. He looked at me I looked at him. Gave him a quick wink and pointed my finger ahead and planned to take off in a cool way. 2 seconds passed, 4 seconds passed, I was only slowly going ahead of him, but I could still see him from my window. And we're still making eye contact. Now this was getting awkward.... I tried pushing "sports mode" hoping that I could end this awkward eye contact asap... Car went more "brrrapppp-y" and I was moving a bit faster now. I think. Meanwhile I could see on the other lane a grandma with her grandson in a camry zipped past us wondering what the hell we were doing.... Luckily my turn approached so I had an excuse to go the other way. Still making eye contact of course - indicating that he was lucky that I had to turn. |

I find the engine tone to be kinda sweet sounding. It can have many different qualities of textures and tones depending on the circumstances.
The car sounds different from other subaru boxers and 4 cylinder engines. It's not really better sounding than most other cars, but again given the right circumstances can be enjoyable, and decently loud with stock. Not for revving in parking lots, but when you're moving the car gets a nice bassy tone. |

[QUOTE=ZOMFGAARON;1903269]Loudest fr-s I've heard.
He's local and you can hear this thing from 2/3 blocks away. That thing sounds like shit, long as he's happy though. |

97% of the cars out there have inline 4s or V6 or V8 engines, so you know what they'll sound like. The twins sound like a 1963 VW bug, at least until you hit 5000+ rpm. It ain't so much about loud as it is about exhaust note.

A stock twin sounds kind of cool if you're flooring it in a tunnel but other that it sounds like any other normal car.

Stock does sound a bit week. TRD intake and exhaust sounds completely different. Nice throaty rumble at idle and low RPM. Banshee scream at high! Does make some of the stop light revers back off a bit when they hear it even though the car is no faster then any stock one.
