because

I like the way the card drives on the street in its oem state.

I like the gas mileage the stock motor gets.

With a heavy left foot it is plenty fast as a daily driver.

I am quite happy with that "feel"

On the track it is seriously underpowered...

I doubt not having the belt on the SC and running it daily would do anything bad to it, anymore than when you park the car for a while.

I was actually thinking an electric clutch like the a/c compressor has, servo powered intake valve and with ECUtek live rom switching with the cruise control stalk I could have SC on demand.

This is how I see it:

Of the FI options (the real ones not the ESC), the turbo is obviously the most complicated and expensive and least reliable.

That being said, an SC on this motor is more reliable, cheaper, simpler, running minimal boost, etc. obviously the stress put on the engine is there true. But there are several members on this forum with >300whp who have a significant amount if miles on it without any problems. 90% of the reliability comes from the tune, get a proper tune and you'll have a nice and happy motor.

Plus the SC allows for an OEM+ type of driving feel.

QED: your plan would be more hastle avoiding something that's not nessecarily going to hurt the car's characteristics or engine.

I'm with the FI or not crowd. By adding in a bypass to switch back and forth you are asking for boost leaks when running the supercharger. As for swapping the belt or an electric clutch setup you are baking the oil in the SC when you are driving, it is not the same as when you park the car. Oil works best when it is continuously circulated.

Do you NEED more power on the track? Have you upgraded you suspension and tires? When people ask about how to make their car faster there are four things I normally see from knowledgable people. Driver, brakes, tires, suspension.

There is other options, such as a full exhaust, and E85 tune.

Or full exhaust and BPB + tune.

Both will net around 190-200whp.

Sounds like you should turbo it if anything then, a turbo on the bigger side to be specific. Very very easy to stay out of boost and your gas mileage will go up if anything. Zero strain on the engine.

If you really wanted to go all out stupid with it, you could rig the waste-gate open when you aren't at the track and not build boost at all really ..although that would be pretty pointless IMO.

I average 33 MPG. I can commute to work and back without even seeing boost very easily, including merging onto a highway at a decent rate of acceleration. And, if needed.. rev it out a little and step on it and bam! 20 pounds of fury!

You could, but there's zero point.

If you've looked at the installation manual, you'd know that the pulley layout is changed, so you can't use a stock belt. You could, however, use a different sized belt to bypass the supercharger completely.

You have nothing to gain. At daily driving speeds/RPMs, you won't lose a significant amount of MPG unless you can't control your right foot.
