Bad example...GM was originally a holding company for Buick; Chevrolet and Pontiac were sister brands in the same independent company; Oldsmobile was another independent; and GMC was a further independent that was renamed after takeover GM. All were bought up over the years and brought under GM. Amongst other brands worldwide.

Now, for OP, it's not as if they're hiding the fact that they're the same company. It's just a different face for the consumers. Internally I'd be surprised if it's anything more than different website graphics, invoice headers based on order numbers etc.

I was referring to brand management, not history. If you want to go based off history, really the best example would be toyota with scion and Lexus

It's all about the "About Us" page: http://ft86speedfactory.com/pages/about-us-23.html

Similarly, Max @ 86Worx owns multiple companies with multiple names...

86Worx - FRS / BRZ / 86
Rev9Autosport - Miata
rotarylove - RX7 / RX8

...and is completely transparent on his About Us page: http://www.86worx.com/about-86worx/

It also makes customers think that support is really knowledgable on their specific cars (and they are) as opposed to a one stop shop. Having separate stores makes it easier for customers find what they need. Also good for Google and SEO when people search for aftermarket parts for their specific cars.

Also, the bottom of both sites and their invoices are labeled as JB Autosports, so it's not hard to find out who these dudes really are.

Hit the nail on the head. Thank you.

When we do something we want to do it 110%. Having a name that relates to our audience is important, it shows we know and care about the platform. And honestly we do. VERY few shops have the car they are trying to market to; let alone even a real facility. When someone calls us with a question on an FRS / BRZ and now a 2015 WRX we can answer the question without hesitation.

Cars are our passion, and we're going to be the best we can with a couple of platforms.
