I had a really odd one the other day:

Just finished washing my car and was working on the wheels at the self wash. Strange dude walks up to me and starts saying how nice my car is (I already know where this is going at this point). He then says he just got out of prison after 3 years and needs money for the bus. I ask him what he really needs money for and then he flips shit and walks away. Comes back and flashes a stack of twenties in my face and calls me a racist. I promptly hop in my car and drive away, all the while he is yelling shit at me.

One good thing about NY, we don't make eye contract and something like that would never happen.

Wow... That's all I have to say lol. I had people commenting on my car when I was sitting in it or getting out but never had a situation like you.

So, does your car not auto lock? Like... seriously, unlock your car and stand next to it for 30 secs without getting in, it'll auto re-lock. That means the period of time between when you walked away and someone got in was less than that... It even does it if I don't lock my doors and just walk away after turning the car off...

it only auto locks if you unlock it after the car is shut off.

during normal driving and parking (park, turn off the keys than get out of the car) it won't auto lock. I think the feature is for the times when you unlock the car for someone or to get something and forget to lock it back up.

at least i have never seen it auto lock under other circumstances.

I'll go down to my garage and try it now. Thanks for the tip.

Just tried it. Didn't work. It stays unlocked. I must have forgotten to lock my car yesterday after I was cleaning it up a bit.

Happened to me in New Orleans when I had my G35. They were greeted by a glock 19.

Should have seen their face

Send your condo association president/board an email anyway so they can let others in the neighborhood know. If you have shared laundry put up a notice. You don't have to say what unit or what car. Other people may have experienced it but not really noticed. It should flush out anyone who was trying to be shady once they think they're closer to being caught. *2 cents*

Ohhhhhhhhh my god that's what that mysterious locking mechanism is. All the while every time I've worked on my car I thought it was just randomly locking itself or some kid had a key that could lock Toyota's and was screwing with me lolol
