Actually It's great! I like it how it ended up. but I would do it a bit longer. Do you know if the stock led strips have some motion? like the leds sliding from top to bottom? or they just light up and that's it?

It's difficult to make the LED strips bend to accomodate the chrome assembly design, FYI.

Hi retro . I did really like your mod on your enclosure. I bought some led strips with high intensity SMD leds. Initially I was trying to find some led strips with a led motion but couldn't find any. If I'm not mistaken the leds on the GT when they light up have some motion.
So you had to heat up the casing remove it and attach the leds inside. I really don't want to go thorough all that. By anyways.. just give me a couple tips. I really like your mod. It's really neat and decent that's what I want mine to look like. I'm in argentina

Listen I wanted to see your progress on dropbox but it's empty no pictures. Do you have another link. And I was thinking on sticking the led strip with some rigid wire for placement. until I finally find the position. Did you stick it onto the chrome reflector or on the top casing?. can you upload a vid to youtube would be great !

Do Argentine vehicle laws allow you to add flashing lights to your car? That would not go over well here. Another reason I'm glad I have the boring old '13 FR-S. I can't wait to see how badly they screw up the looks of the next generation FR-S/BRZ with idiotic bling.

Hey ! , well I think here in argentina they don't care at all about traffic laws regarding aesthetics.
What's that about the old '13 FRS? . you do think they're screwing up in the next generation FRS? . I'm not sure if the GTs has that led strip with moving leds

Are you sure there's such thing as "moving LED" from factory for our headlights? As far as I'm concerned, the LED doesn't blink or move for JDM or EDM models.

Our cars better not be the next Knight Industries K.I.T.T.

Not sure but I think i've seen the 86 GT that kind of strip have some kind of movement when it turned on maybe i'm mistaken. Or was just my impression.

I don't think the GTs have moving LEDs, I think the LEDs are illuminated briefly several dozen times a second, the exposure time of a digital camera is too short to capture a whole light/dark cycle so there's a fair chance an LED will be unlit in any given frame. (stolen from the thread below)

Which is why there's a flicker in the lights you've seen in videos and whatnot, they do not flicker in person.

Sorry for the late reply guys, I was hungover as crap and still am.

I bought them LED strips from superbrightleds.com and just tapped them directly to the signal lights. HOWEVER, it may not be a good idea cause I noticed the driver side LEDs subtly less brighter than the passenger side. I'm guessing it could be because it's farther away from the battery or something, so I would recommend a relay harness.

I baked them lights open because there is no way I can cleanly install them from the bulb hole and you might actually end up scratching the inside of the glass lens. It's not too hard, 250F for 8-10 minutes in the oven would do the trick.

Also, I fabricated a mount for the LEDs from sheet metal, it's just a bit wider than the strips themselves, so that I can position the strips further down, otherwise if you just stick em in the chrome assembly, it will be partially covered by the hood. I'll post a pic when I find it later today.

Hi thanks for your answer. I'm kind of worried about the right way of installing the led strips (taking into account the amperes driving of the led).
I will install them on the parking lights bulb not turn light signal as you did. So when I turn the knob of the backlight of the gauges it will light up that bulbs. I Don't know if it's called parking light or whatever it is. DRL I think it's the only bulb next to the High beams halogen bulb.
So I want to know for sure what's the best way to install these led strips without blowing everything up.
Anyone !??
