Led strip on parking light T10 bulb? Amperage fuse
Hi guys I wanted to replace my normal T10 bulbs parking lights with a led strip. These lights light up when I turn on the knob for the gauges backlight.
Now my question is adding a led strip would make it draw more current (amps) and will burn out the fuse?. Here I show the light bulb where I would like to add the led strip alone , or maybe led strip + led bulb as well. thanks http://oi60.tinypic.com/2pkpw.jpg |

OP, I have to say that when you finally get done you are going to have the most, uh, "unique" one around.

And I don't like the normal parking light bulb. That's why I was looking for a simple solution to add a led strip that's all nothing from out of this world look. Basically I just needed to know if a adding a led strip would increase the amperage consumption but I don't think so, I'll just splice the terminals to the parking lights and it should light up fine. |
One word... Winjets.

Hey sorry , what's winjets? I just checked and there are some pictures of the front lights with the led strip. But I'm not looking to change the whole enclosure

Adding (sticking) an LED strip on there looks rice and it's the WRONG way of doing it... Unless you want to bake the headlights and then risk having them leak... By all means, go for it... Just don't whine about it later. |

Don't think how it might come out, but it might end up good. going back to the wiring does the wiring tolerate the led strip (current driving ?) I'm asking this cause I know the circuit is the one for backlight on the gauges , stock audio and some other lights as well. I don't think the leds would drive much but not quite sure. I was thinking on using my DMM and test the AMPS being driven by the led strip. Do you know how much AMPS is the fuse on the park lights circuit? I bought a nice led strip with 5050SMD high intensity bulbs. |
Although I don't think it looks very good, I believe @retrosmiths has done something similar to what you want to do. Here's a picture stolen from his thread (link below), perhaps ask him for some tips?
