Just go out and buy one of those ionizing necklaces or bracelets. They'll 100% protect you from Japanese radiation (the worst kind!).
How do I know? I'm a nuclear (pronounced nuke-you-ler) doctor

My car came with iodine tablets. They were in the first aid kit, but the manual specifically states that cancer of the operator is not covered by the warranty.
Cesium is your big worry, so park that sucker until 2043. Stay far away from bananas as well. |

Your body is more radioactive than your car. Google Potassium 40 (K40).
As it happens, I'm a dweeb with a geiger counter. In late March 2011, I could see the increase in background radiation here in New Hampshire from radio iodine blown into the sky in Fukushima. The increase was on the order of natural background, nothing to panic over, but still mighty impressive. Our cars are clean. |

I was living in Tokyo and Saitama when the earthquake and Tsunami occurred. I lived there for about 2 years after the incident before i decided to come home. it was funny because all the foreign governments really urged their citizens to return home because of the radiation and a lot of my foreign friends left Japan immediately. I know it was a problem but nothing really happened to us people living there. Asides from the superpowers I have nothing to complain about.

In the end, we didn't go - but one of the things I noted was that you're getting more background radiation while flying in the airliner, or visiting NYC, than was being measured on the ground in Tokyo. Of course, you gotta factor in things like ground water, food etc., but it just made me feel the whole radiation angle was overblown. |

It was over blown. I feel really safe in Tokyo. No buildings collapsed from the earthquake. Most damage was caused by the tusnami. Japan's response to disaster's is amazing. Some families are still rcovering but most people have already relocated and picked up their lives.
