Don't go to Toyota. Reports from others on this forums make it appear that Toyota dealerships are buying Subaru filters at list price and marking them, making for some stupid pricing.
thanks, whats the ballpark price you guys are getting for 1 ?

Just an FYI, if you hit up your local dealer they should have the filter and crush washer for under $10. I've done this at both a Subaru dealer and Toyota dealer, I think I'll nab the pack of 6 though since it should save me about $2.

Call before you show up, ask for the filter and crush washer and the price. If you're in a pinch nothing beats local (unless they really suck), dealership parts departments seemed to have learned their lesson on markups now that the internet has happened. I had one dealership undercut the chinese knockoff at OReilly's by about $10 for a rubber boot, and it was OEM.

I think I paid 6.85 for mine. The local Subaru forum has an account for its members at the dealership for stuff like that.

Anything wrong with just getting an oil filter and air filter from napa?
It was a stubby white filter, internals looked solid, had the metal mesh. at work so don't have parts numbers. Didn't even bother opening the air filter.. I would assume it doesn't matter but after reading a few threads you guys seem real picky lol

Paid $30 for air and oil filter.
Stopped by the dealership and they gave me a free crush washers

Bought the xxxxxxx160 one this time for my 2nd oil change (tall black) for $7. I should stick with the xxxxxxx130 though.... until next time.

A question for you guys, should I be changing oil filter every time I change the oil? My dad told me I can use it twice and not bother switching to new one, I switched it anyways though. Car is mainly for DD btw.

It depends on how much you drive with new oil. It's always a good practice to replace oil filter when doing oil change. Why not spend 6~8 bucks extra every 5000 miles to provide better filtration?

Gotcha, thanks you're right it's only $7 too, I'd rather not introduce old oil back into the system after putting in new oil.

ALWAYS fit a new filter. Oils are much better now than in your a Dad's day (which is my day also BTW).

The limit on oil life now is the filter, not the oil.

ALWAYS fit a new filter and ALWAYS fit a new crush washer on the drain plug.

Oh yes, ALWAYS check the oil level with the dipstick after changing the oil,and BEFORE trying to start the engine.

ALWAYS.

Did you even try looking at a PMU dealer?

For $38 I'd rather buy 6x OEM filters, and change them every 1000 miles. Cheaper that way.

I called a lot of places and all of them said they were unsure if they could get the product and regardless of cost this was something I wanted for my car that's why I started this thread. I appreciate all of the opinions but I just needed help locating this item in stock stateside.

Fyi I have accounts open with a lot of vendors and have contacted a lot of them regarding this item when I originally posted this thread. I have been using stock oem subaru black oil filters the life of the car and for the majority will continue to do so but I would like to have some killer jdm filters in stock for show.
