Innovate was installed in 3-4 hours by a shop that had already done it 3-4 times. This included the fuel pump as well.

depends on the mechanic working on the car .. ive been quoted 500$ for a clutch install at a shop and a mechanic at the dealership did it for 100$ and it took like 45mins-1h .. it's amazing to see how some mechanincs can work quickly and do a nice job ..
there's a few neon guys here that spend their weekends at the dragstrip and they carry spare axles and transmissions .. i've seen a guy change a transmission in half an hour while it took me around 2 hours to do mine back then ..

The time comes from the first time you do it. It's partial discovery. It's a fiddly job and you have to be careful how you do it. I know, I did one myself!

Shift Fast is still a great shop though. They definately do know what they're doing, and have learned most of what they know about these cars from working on mine. They're based in Rock Hill, and they've got some great dudes working there.
Yeah ill probably check them out, i'm about an hour away from there. If i install it myself, would it be safe to drive that far without the tune?

No. Gotta have the tune before you even turn the car on with it installed. It changes the dynamics of the engine that much. Whoever you ordered the sc from should have a base map available too. Need it to be able to run the car with it.
