hey guys a quick update - it turns out these are still a little ways from actual production, Mike @ CSG tells me it will probably be about 3 months before these finish prototyping and testing/R&D.

So for now it's just an interest thread and we will revisit the issue when they are closer to production. It may be that some of you need lug nuts sooner so of course you can look at the aluminum ones they currently offer or many of the other options out there. But here's some further info on these to help guide you as to whether you might still want these further down the road, when they are ready:

"The primary purposes of these is to make a lugnut with maximum shear resistance and strength; while no lugnut should ever be overtorqued, these are going to be able to take a LOT of abuse. The tradeoff is weight. We're engineering for the lugnuts to "overspecced" by close to 250%, rather than the 50% of the Aluminum lugnuts."

Oh well, no rush, I already have lug nuts for my other wheels, these are just an added bonus.

so in further discussions with CSG, it looks like we would be able to get a customized set of lugs nuts produced -- IF we could get 20 sets ordered. That means we would be able to have the 86DRIVE logo or name engraved on one side of the lug nuts (and the CSG logo on the other side). There are some options here.

We could have them done on the aluminum nuts - the tooling/specs for these are already worked out so these could be produced sooner than the 3 month timeframe. The advantages to this are these are lightweight and still stronger than OEM nuts. And we could get them anodized in a custom color (if we can agree on one haha). Cost around ~$180 for our group buy price.

The other option is do this with the chromoly nuts being developed. As noted before more time required to get this in production, but cost will be lower than the alum and these are engineered to be heavy duty for track abuse. These would only be available in rustproof gunmetal coating. Cost around $135.

Either way we'd save from the ordinary retail price of these lugs as CSG normally sells them. Plus we would get them all shipped to us here in NorCal in one batch so we'd save a bunch on shipping too. You'd just pick up in person at one of our meets.

Would like your opinions on this, so please go visit 86DRIVE site and vote! Thanks everyone.

LOL you know you can always sell whatever lugs you have, after you've swapped to these exclusive custom ones haha.

$180 is pretty steep for aluminum nuts imo
