What to cover in engine bay cleaning?

They are pretty difficult to see except from sharp angles but I'll try to get a picture of it after I wash my car. I used ONR with carpro wool mitt but it just wasn't coming out so I just scraped it a little with my nail and it "broke" off but left a perfect filled outline of the sap.
