Agree on the down payment, but in this economy financing the car is almost the guaranteed way to go. Getting money is as cheap as it has ever been. Even without a dealer promo you can still probably get 5 year loans at 3.5% or less with good credit. Better to have the money in your pocket than not have it when you need it. Plus things will turn around eventually and you would be better off investing that cash.

Worst case is that you use the cash on hand to pay the loan off early.

Yeah never buy a car completely with cash. Cars are depreciating objects. Finance or lease them.

Limited sounded like the way they were going leaning towards, but out of Japan they order it as a “base” model or a “premium” model. So there’s a good chance it will be called limited, but its not for sure yet. When Subaru of Canada does their ordering, the “premium” model comes with the leather, gps etc. When I find out how their naming it in Canada, I’ll let you know right away.
That would be hilarious if he's actually reading this thread and sent a followup email b/c he saw tranzformer's post!

Don't really care to look up the law on whether this is acceptable in my state. It's not acceptable to me, so I told the guy "no thanks."

My question is: What the hell is a sold order? An order, period, is to get the proper color/spec for someone to buy. So why call it a sold order?

That person sending you the e-mail at least sounds like hes actually informed about the car...I know a guy that works at Toyota and he claims they already have 2 Fr-S' and that the price will be 26 grand but I know hes just talking out his ass once he said the Subaru will be 28 grand and would come with more power.

If I buy this car I will have it for a very long time so It doesn't matter to me. What pisses me off is paying interest and other fees. Id rather be the guy that saved 5k off the car and never have to worry if I lose my job will the car become a repossess vehicle. And I might buy it gently used more than likely too. And another thing too, my credit is terrible and I like when I purchase a car that is completely mines. I also don't plan on spending all of my money on a car so I could be broke afterwards either.

My cousin got screwed because of his credit. They hit him with 25.99% on a POS car.

Snippets of information from the sales person I'm working with for First 86 (this Scion/Toyota dealership has a Subaru dealership in its group).

Quote:
Based on the latest information, Subaru will open up a portal on February 28th for dealers to enter orders into.

In March initial allocation numbers will be announced, and sometime around then pricing. The allocation will be for May through November, telling each dealer the maximum units they can get, be it for orders or for inventory. Subaru has stated that production will be very limited.

Once a dealer hits their max they will get NOT additional cars until the next 6-month cycle. The example is if a dealer gets 6 units, and they have 25 orders, then they will only be able to fill 6 orders be it customer orders or for regular inventory. The other 19 will not be filled.

[redacted]

The timelibe seems to suggest the first cars will come out sometime in May, or June. I'd also guess that orders will be filled first. We do not know what color selections will be offered, nor how many a month maximum any one dealer will receieve regardlss of orders. Dealers that do not have customer orders can still request cars for their inventory. Subaru will assure all dealers receive cars, to prevent dealers from stacking up all their allocation and trying to receive it the first month.

Hmm so if dealers are allowed to enter orders... does that mean pre orders as well? Not sure if i want my dealer to enter my order before pricing info is announced.

Interesting info, sounds like they really are limiting production. Woof. Sounds like they will start pre-orders on the 28th though, good stuff. Sounds like as long as we are on top of it and get our orders in, if we are in the first 2 cars delivered at our dealership, we should get them at launch. That's all I wanted.
