Some info people might find interesting...

As always, take everything with a grain of salt.

Hi Jason,

Thanks for the email in. Sorry I didn’t get back to you earlier, I was off for the morning. We have some pre-sold Brz’s, along with all the other stores in the Okanagan have pre-sold Brz’s. We are bringing one in for demo purpose that’s for test drive only. We are specifically ordering for customers at their request. We have 4 color choices at the moment, and a base model or a premium model. So far, anyone who has pre-ordered has ordered the premium model in manual transmission. The premium model will have leather, red stitching, navigation and a few other goodies announced next month sometime.

So we will have one here for test drive. The vehicle is being released June 15th to all dealers from port. It will take approx 3-10 days for it to land at our dealership after June 15th. I’m not sure which ones will arrive first. We won’t know until closer to the date.

If you know what color and package you would want, you can pre-order one with a $500 deposit. The deposit is fully 100% refundable if when the vehicle comes in and you test drive it, and don’t like it or it does not meet your expectations. So if you really want a certain package and color, I can pre-order you one and you won’t be obligated to take it once it comes in. There going to be allocating the cars on a pre-sold basis first by the sounds of it. Production of the vehicles in Japan will start at the end of March/Start of April. Takes a month to build them, then they have to boat them over seas.

I will have some more info later on this month or the start of next month we’re told.

Let me know if you interested or if you would like more information once I receive more I can send along.

Thanks,

Anthony Lunelli

Seems to be a little confused over the Premium/Limited but it's probably a common mistake. With all the information/misinformation, hard to know what to believe but consider mid-June is right around my birthday I sure wouldn't mind getting one around then. But I'm sure I'd be far from one of the first to get one unfortunately, especially if they'd only be getting 1-2 a month in.

Why start a new thread? Why not include in the ongoing threads? Seriously?

Good info, who knows if it's true, but it sounds nice and orderly compared with all the madness of rumors from SOA. Maybe SOC have their crap figured out better.

I was getting ready to board an airplane. Didn't have time to look for threads. I did think about it but decided against it. Anyway, we're hungry so going to see what's to eat on the strip!

I talked to a sales manager of the local Toyota dealer yesterday and he said when they got the FR-S in before the end of the summer they were going to sell it to the general public and that TMCC was going to offer financing to well qualified buyers.

People shouldn't complain because what you can do is save more money until then for your down payment. Me personally I will get one of these a year or two later as my RSX only has 110k miles on it and I don't believe in financing.

Hi Jason,

I was at a Subaru meeting last week, and the vice-president was there along with the person in charge of ordering trim packages for Canada. I got everything directly from them what I’m going to be telling you.

They are allowed to order a base and premium model. They haven’t named either package in Canada yet. It might be called limited, it might be called a tech package (Like on the Sti’s they have a base and tech package), they weren’t sure yet. Limited sounded like the way they were going leaning towards, but out of Japan they order it as a “base” model or a “premium” model. So there’s a good chance it will be called limited, but its not for sure yet. When Subaru of Canada does their ordering, the “premium” model comes with the leather, gps etc. When I find out how their naming it in Canada, I’ll let you know right away.

At the meeting, we were told Japan was allowing 4 colors on the initial order. The colors were white, black, silver and Rally blue. Since they haven’t built the cars yet, they might allow additional colors to be added for the initial order. We are told they are offering more colors, but as of right now, the additional colors might not be available on the first order. A lot can change about that initial color ordering in the next month. Manufactures from Japan are funny how they do that.

I was told from the vice president, whoever puts in a sold order, they will be prioritized that way. So if I put in a sold order today, that one has priority over a sold order put in 2 months from now at any dealership. He said they want to make sure all people who pre-order gets theirs in the initial or second load of BRZ’s. If a dealer doesn’t have a sold order, they probably won’t be getting a BRZ on the first few orders by the sounds of things. So it doesn’t really matter where you order it from, as long as you get your order in earlier than later if you wanted one on the initial 1st or 2nd load, you will get one. We always try to tell customer to always buy locally if possible, as we try to give our local customers top service. I stressed the fact that we wanted an additional BRZ for test driving purposes on the first few orders. My rep said he would do his best, but it all bowls down to how many sold orders get put into the system before the cars arrive to Canada.

There is no official pricing yet. At the meeting we were told they are waiting for Scion to announce their pricing in Canada, then Subaru plans on releasing theirs. Scion does not get the “premium or limited” (however to refer to it at the moment) and they will only receive the entry trim package we are told. They may have dealer installed options (They do that on a lot of their vehicles). They are hoping to be in the $2x,xxx price range in Canada. I’d assume in the middle or higher end of that, but they didn’t give us any indication. We always start the asking price at Msrp, we never ask over MSRP. I know some dealers do, but we don’t do that. Once we find out MSRP and our profit margins, then we can see what we could work out. I can’t give you any numbers at the moment since I’m not sure what I can work with. They should be releasing pricing next month when they release more information.

Ask any questions you like! I’m here to answer them. If you have some more that I missed or didn’t answer well enough, just let me know and if I don’t know the answer, I will forward the question to my Subaru rep and see if he can answer it. It usually takes a day or two for him to get back.

Hope your enjoying your holidays!

Thanks,

The big thing being the colours. Possibly no Lighting Red, Galaxy Blue Silica or Dark Gray Metallic right off the bed. Have to say I'd be really surprised (and disappointed) if that was the case.

Interesting, that sales manager is awesome, that's the way they all should be. As for the colors, if they think those 4 colors are the most popular, it would make sense to produce more of the popular colors first. Sucks for all the folks that want red, blue silica or gray though...
