Hi Jason,
I was at a Subaru meeting last week, and the vice-president was there along with the person in charge of ordering trim packages for Canada. I got everything directly from them what I’m going to be telling you.
They are allowed to order a base and premium model. They haven’t named either package in Canada yet. It might be called limited, it might be called a tech package (Like on the Sti’s they have a base and tech package), they weren’t sure yet. Limited sounded like the way they were going leaning towards, but out of Japan they order it as a “base” model or a “premium” model. So there’s a good chance it will be called limited, but its not for sure yet. When Subaru of Canada does their ordering, the “premium” model comes with the leather, gps etc. When I find out how their naming it in Canada, I’ll let you know right away.
At the meeting, we were told Japan was allowing 4 colors on the initial order. The colors were white, black, silver and Rally blue. Since they haven’t built the cars yet, they might allow additional colors to be added for the initial order. We are told they are offering more colors, but as of right now, the additional colors might not be available on the first order. A lot can change about that initial color ordering in the next month. Manufactures from Japan are funny how they do that.
I was told from the vice president, whoever puts in a sold order, they will be prioritized that way. So if I put in a sold order today, that one has priority over a sold order put in 2 months from now at any dealership. He said they want to make sure all people who pre-order gets theirs in the initial or second load of BRZ’s. If a dealer doesn’t have a sold order, they probably won’t be getting a BRZ on the first few orders by the sounds of things. So it doesn’t really matter where you order it from, as long as you get your order in earlier than later if you wanted one on the initial 1st or 2nd load, you will get one. We always try to tell customer to always buy locally if possible, as we try to give our local customers top service. I stressed the fact that we wanted an additional BRZ for test driving purposes on the first few orders. My rep said he would do his best, but it all bowls down to how many sold orders get put into the system before the cars arrive to Canada.
There is no official pricing yet. At the meeting we were told they are waiting for Scion to announce their pricing in Canada, then Subaru plans on releasing theirs. Scion does not get the “premium or limited” (however to refer to it at the moment) and they will only receive the entry trim package we are told. They may have dealer installed options (They do that on a lot of their vehicles). They are hoping to be in the $2x,xxx price range in Canada. I’d assume in the middle or higher end of that, but they didn’t give us any indication. We always start the asking price at Msrp, we never ask over MSRP. I know some dealers do, but we don’t do that. Once we find out MSRP and our profit margins, then we can see what we could work out. I can’t give you any numbers at the moment since I’m not sure what I can work with. They should be releasing pricing next month when they release more information.
Ask any questions you like! I’m here to answer them. If you have some more that I missed or didn’t answer well enough, just let me know and if I don’t know the answer, I will forward the question to my Subaru rep and see if he can answer it. It usually takes a day or two for him to get back.
Hope your enjoying your holidays!

The big thing being the colours. Possibly no Lighting Red, Galaxy Blue Silica or Dark Gray Metallic right off the bed. Have to say I'd be really surprised (and disappointed) if that was the case.
