Meh, I'll save the $15-20k and keep the BRZ.

Usable back seat: that is one thing that is better in 1/2 series compared with the twin.

If they reduce the height from 1421 to 13xx or high 12xx, I would be happy.

I also dig the hatch idea. A 4 seater hatch with RWD.

The 1 series was a big disappointment to me. Instead of being a truly smaller/lighter-weight, less expensive rwd sports coupe/sedan/hatch, it's basically 90% of a 3-series in terms of size/weight, and we only got the 2-door.
2-series doesn't change anything, but the number is appropriately closer to 3. But IMO the current 3 is about what the 5 should be (rather than a well over 4000 lb. land barge).

BMW hasn't even tried to make a small, fun, lightweight sporty car for ages, or if they have tried they've failed miserably. They could learn a lot from the FT86 twins, but instead they're just going to continue to take their rwd line in the Buick direction, and make their small cars fwd. The company that produced the 2002 and the E30 is looonng gone

I thought this was the 4 series? I read something a while back about it and the pictures look similar.

...But I hate how cars are all looking he same exterior wise these days throughout some brands. BMW, Audi...

I owned a 135 for 3 years. I bought it 6 months old, in 2009, with 3000 miles. I paid $31000 for the car. That isnt really that far off the $27700 I paid for my BRZ. That was a hell of a lot more car for $3300 more.

I got rid of it because I was sick of BMW service. And, I had been eying the BRZ for almost year. A WRB BRZ just happen to be available when the straw that broke the camels back at BMW happened.

The 1 series was either a car you thought looked good, or you thought it was really ugly. I liked it because it was fund to drive, and it was smaller than the 3 series.

When an M2(or what ever they end up calling it) comes out...I may have to try BMW out again.

In Canada the BRZ Limited is $29,295, and the 128i (not even the 135), with sport package is $41,010. Start adding anything else and you are well over $45k. Not a great deal at all here.

Here the 128i MSRPs for $32k. $34k with the M package. And of course BMW sells lower trims in the rest of the world.

The 4 series is a rebadged 3 series coupe.
This 2 series is a rebadged 1 series coupe.

The 3 series is now 4 doors only
The 1 series is now hatchback only?

I quite liked the 1 series honestly. But yeah it was just a smaller 3 series that wasn't that much smaller than a 3 series.....
And it looked like a 3 series accordioned into a smaller package....so it looked goofy and unproportioned.

Dammit! Of course I see this right as I'm about to buy the BRZ! Oh well, guess I'll give it a couple years. I've been waiting for a suitable small BMW to resurface.

That's one nice looking BMW even though the old 1 series coupe wasn't that bad in looks but this looks like it will be even greater... But makes me wonder what the weight and power it has

Looks a lot like the Chevy 130R concept, which was originally created to compete with the 135i and as of late Chevy said it was now targeting its sights on the twins...LoL. Good luck ever getting that to production Chevy. See pics in attached link.
