And it begins:

Drove from the Akishima-shi, Tokyo AVO office to Droo-P's secret lair deep in the mountains of Japan (though admittedly probably quite near a bar of some sort) with the Cosworth engine, an AVO turbocharger of immense girth, and lots of bits n pieces of this and that to get to work with. I'll keep the build updated here and on facebook!

Good on you for being a pioneer and thanks for posting progress.

I think in time, this swap will become as common as changing spark plugs.

Are you taking the FA20 and pulling it down?

Even if we had access to a number of FA20's to experiment with (which we don't, not for several months), it's extremely doubtful it's going to get to the power needed for D1 right off the bat. The car is being built for the current season, which means we have weeks to get it going, not months. So going with a known quantity was necessary - thus the Cosworth engine, which we've used for our Time Attack widebody at Tsukuba for over 3 years now.

The engine is going to be the easy part, getting the piping worked out for the turbo, exhaust, and intercooling is going to be the not so easy part.

Just testing out clearances and such... All joking aside, it looks like there's a good amount of room available. Well, at least after you've pulled out wiring harnesses and all other unnecessary bits.

Japan. Read like 10-11 posts back. Btw, build looks great. Once you can give more info about the engine/build, please let us know. We are all curious.
