Reading the OPs post makes me think he will end up with a car looking like this

I would say wait and see what some people that know more about wheel sizing to mod their cars and post pictures before you go buy "10.5 wide wheels with low profile tires".

And what is some people's obsession with "low profile tires"? I hear a lot of people throw it around in real life when they are talking about getting wheels for their car as if it means something.

What's wrong with nice wide tires? I have 315's on the back of the MKIV? Granted I can understand if they are to big, but I think some decently wide tires on and FRS would be pretty clean

A car that has this much power just doesn't need that much tire. It will ruin the way the car feels. Every review has said something along the lines of this car is so much fun due to it having two steering wheels, one for your hands and one for your feet. If you put this much tire on a car it might look "hella sweet" but you will completely kill the personality that they tried so had to develop.

10.5" does seem a bit much for the car, especially with the horsepower as it is…

The question is, do we (the collective we of the forum) think that 9" wheels with 235/35 tires all around would be to much…? Especially if one is enhancing the engine with power add-ons (aka, a Rotrex supercharger build-up)?

I won't say it can't be done but at the same time I don't want to mention anything that starts with the letters H and F! That might strike a couple of nerves here!

F* it, I'll say it. HELLAFLUSH haha.

Looking at the GReddy FRS, I noticed a few things. One, being that it was running 19s. Second, the tires were the "proper size" for the wheels, thus, no stretching. Also, from every angle I saw, it looked as though it was running the factory camber settings. Going down to 17/18s, stretching the tires, and adding camber.....10.5s would be possible. HOWEVER, I think 10.5s on this car is overkill as well and in order to make 10.5s fit, it'll require some work which, in the end, will make the car just suck.

I'm all about and down with hellaflush cars-but I hate the people that do it with wheels that are too big, tires that are about to pop off the bead, and wheels cambered in 4+ degrees front and rear just to barely fit. I wanna be flush, but still wanna enjoy my car haha.

I was thinking along the lines of 17x9 and 18x9.5 for my setup

+1 18's are the biggest wheel size I'll go with.

I think the stance and HF guys are going to 10" in the rear max. Since the fender is squared off, it doesn't give you that much room to work with, even with a neg camber and a mild stretch. That's my take.

That tyre is bordering on too narrow for the wheel.

Why did they use a +35 wheel on the rear? Was it to appeal to the HF kiddies, or was it to clear a coilover spring?

Say you went to 18s with a +45 offset, the proper tyre for an 18x9.5 is a 265 or 275/35. The 265 would be positioned almost exactly the same as the picture above in relation to the guard (fender) and a 275 would sit about 5mm further out.

So not only is a 10.5" wide tyre possible, it looks pretty easy and could be done without making the car look like it belongs in a cartoon.

Of course with anything less than 300hp, it's also pointless.

I would agree that a 10.5 would be pointless other than for looks but i think the 18X9.5 +45 would be best both look and functionality wise. Oh and the 265 has a minor stretch so depending on your style you could go either way.
