I recall that there was a news article that mentioned that Nissan are carefully watching the Toyota 86 to see whether there's a market for an S16 or some other coupe revival.

Nissan= yes
Honda= no
Mazda= just a lighter mx-5 [Miata]. The Rotary engine can't meet emission regulations anymore which is the real reason the RX is dead.

Yeah, Americans like big and powerful. I think Hyundai got the formula right for the American market (that's why it's in muscle car shootouts). It's a cheaper G coupe. The FR-S will be in a slightly different segment (currently the only one) and I worry for its success. Small, lower output cars tend to prosper overseas but don't get the attention they deserve in the US.

If the AS1 sells well then yes. I would love an S16 an RX-7 MkII, the S15 an the RX-7 were such a low cars. Only BMW won't come with any, they became to big and heavy. I waited so long for a Z2.

The last rumored S16 turned out to just be the 370Z. I'm a huge Nissan fanboy, and would LOVE for a new S-Chassis car to be made and sold here, but I'm not holding my breath.

From Nissan we will sooner see a more powerful Zed or an AWD sti competitor in the next gen sentra chassis before we see a new Silvia.

I own 2 s13s and my goal after I pay off my 86 is to build a LHD full race/drift s15.

The S chassis is dead.

Maybe or maybe not? I don't usually trust 7tunes unamed "sources" but:

"Or perhaps not entirely. You see, according to very high ranking sources within Nissan and Nismo, both companies are carefully watching to see how successful the BRZ and 86 are going to be. In actual fact, I quote one as saying, “…we hope they sell well because that will validate the return of a car like the Silvia.” When I asked if Nissan were still developing the S16 in any way, the response was cryptic; “I’m sure if you ask them, they will say they have no comment on the matter.” Read into that what you will."

Nope, engine is too big....needs to be a 2.0 liter turbo with about 300 HP and RWD. And it needs to still be named the S2000.

Yep, Nissan is definitely going to be making one. The AS1 can't sit all buy itself on the market!

We need a FR CHEAP sports car. Honda should make it affordable, and so should Nissan, and Mazda should make a hard top MX-5 type car. Imagine that! "Hmm what car should I buy?"

The Honda S2500
Or the Nissan 240sx/Silvia S16
Or the Mazda RX-7
Hmm the Scion FR-S looks great too.
