Do you park inside your garage? If you have mice in your home, you may have bigger problems lol.

I'm also curious about the rodent tape. Is it like a larger version of the bug tapes?

The snap traps do work, you just need to find the right kind. I have a one velcroed to the top of the battery (there is just enough under the hood for the for the mechanism to operate). It works great they caught 6 mice so far this year (2 in the FR-S and 4 in the wife's Yaris).

They just walk over it and get stuck to the trap. Then they either wait there to die or they start trying to free themselves.

I don't have a garage yet, that is coming ... just a little expensive 60+, have tried the snap traps under the car, but they are just ignoring them now. Like the idea of the trap velcroed to the battery.
re the rodent tape: used like electrical tape, goes over the top of the regular black tape that covers the wiring. (sorry this isn't better explained ) it has something in it that is similar to cayanne pepper, so they don't like chewing it. Seems it is made by Honda, comes in 20 m rolls, is backordered now, very popular. I (I wonder why)) Only one roll is available in west. Canada right now. I will report on how well it does. Death to mice..... Am thinking of getting a pair of "ferrel cats" seem they are being given away, having been spayed, and shots up to date by a vet. I have allergies so the cat can't come in the house. Thanks for the suggestions..

I've got a squirrel hoarding nuts in my engine bay. The car spent about a month and a half untouched in the garage, hiding from the snow. When I dropped the under tray to swap in a whiteline sway bar, half eaten nuts just poured out. Little bastard hid them behind the battery, on the intake manifold, somehow even in the air box - still haven't figured that one out.
Can't remember ever actually being angry with a rodent before that. I bought and set some of the the big rat traps all over the garage. Haven't caught anything yet. Now I turn on the lights and check the car every night.
Sometimes I'll see a bushy little tail hauling ass out of there. About the only thing I can do is curse vigorously at him, which upsets my Girlfriend and worries the neighbors.
In summary, good luck. I have no advice to offer, just feel better getting that off my chest. Thanks.

Sticky traps work the best. They are also pretty cruel. That said, I've used sticky traps to get rid of mice in the basement and it worked insanely well. I think one large trap caught 3 mice at once one night. Haven't had a mouse problem for a few years now since then.

In a garage, use multiple electronic pest repellers, the more the better. These work best if garage is unfinished inside as they rely on the signal bouncing off hard surfaces at different angles. If you have outlets in the ceiling (for door openers), install one over the car pointing down at it as well. I had mice in all my cars every year until I put the repellers in. Haven't seen one in 10 years now. I got them in 3-packs at Wal-Mart pretty cheap. Until I did this I tried everything including cats. Nothing else worked, including the lazy cats!
