If you're hydrolocking, you just drove into a pond or a lake. It's not even visible until you remove the bumper. It is in a great spot.

The filter is above the the bumper bar, in front of a plastic panel. There's really no chance of water going up in front of the radiator, and forward around the panel.

May not have to completely remove the bumper cover to pull the filter off.

While it is not in a box or shield, it is protected by the bumper. With the location of the intake, the only way to really hydro-lock is to go driving through a pond as stated above.

This forum has a paranoia about intakes causing hydro-lock. Just don't do any river crossings and you should be fine.

3 main different designs; CAI, short ram or the TRD intake.
Does it all come down to personal preference on how you like the engine bay to look?

Pretty much. I can't see that any intake is restrictive, including OEM. The only difference is that the SRIs will suffer from worse heat soak.
