Was that MR2/MRS in the first video rolling with the top down? Is that allowed?

I believe you mean the 350z with the top down. If it's convertible then yes. If it were in the Advanced group, it would have needed a cage.

Lol, there's an MR2 at 5:31, and then the 350z a minute later. Both with their top down.

Doesn't that pose a safety issue? I wouldn't feel very comfortable racing with the top down. Not to mention how unstable the car would be with no roof. A Supra Targa Top vs a Hardtop is so different regarding the feel of the car, and a Targa Top at least has some roof connecting the front and rear! I would be terrified in a convertible!

Gotcha. Don't remember seeing the MR. I've never owned a T Top or Vert so wouldn't know. But its not a safety violation like I said, unless in Advanced or Unlimited class.

i convertible top and even a hardtop would not do anything for the structural integrity of a car. the only reason they would require the top up would be as some sort of arm restraint in case of a roll but i dont think they are too concerned if its not wheel to wheel but more of an hpde

I'm pretty sure convertibles are required to install a rollbar to participate. Also, a hardtop does a lot in the way of structural integrity, I don't know why you think otherwise...

you can still put the top down with a roll bar. are you talking about a roof or a hardtop that is put on a convertible? because while a hardtop does wonders for nvh, it isnt a structural component

Oh forget it I mistook you for taking a stab at coupes lol.

I was just saying if you have a coupe, you can race stock, if you have a convertible, you need a roll bar... doesnt matter if the top is up or down though.
