Too bad I can't just order 6 wheels and test them out and send back the rears I don't want.
In you're not racing or anything, so it doesn't matter to certain point. Also keep in mind, wider tires will pull your steering wheel from cracks, dips or uneven pavement. Daily I run 18x8 +35 w 225/40 vs autox I run 17x9 +35 245/40 and steering get pulled so~~~~~ much from 245. I've decided never going put 245 on my daily setup.

if you like the dynamic response from the car, stay 17's w 225 vs if you're looking for the looks only & kill the steering response, go 235~255. I tried to go in the middle by running 18x8 w 225 for daily, but prob this summer I'll change em back to 17x8 w 225 for better response.

But here's the pic for food for thought on 18's... & yes, I do run coils (RS-R Sports-i)

Sorry, but for toyota and subaru engineers, many suspension shop reps here, and for those owners that DO care about handling and practicality, that's NOT obvious. Rather referred as common mistake to do. But well, that's your money that you are free to pay to make your car worse.

I understand the suspension is engineered for square setup, I was referring more to the large muscular rear fenders that can take a much wider tire than the front. And again, I'm most likely going with a square setup, but am curious how much of a difference a small stagger would actually effect the car. Have you ever driven on a staggered setup on street or track? I'm not trying to be snarky, I'm really curious. I know some guys have street and track setups, someone's street setup has to be staggered. And again, the fact that TRDs 18" wheels have a small stagger is what made me curious in the first place... that's staggered from the OEM.

Aipex8: i have driven it on track completely stock. I didn't like how much it understeered, and enjoyed much more when i fixed that with alignment. I haven't driven on track staggered of course, but i certainly wouldn't want it to be even more understeery then it was stock.

Agree. I went from stock to 18x8 +42, 225/40 (here they are cheaper than the 215/45/17). Love the look of the car and the tires -Dunlop Sportmaxx rt2- are so much better than the stock. BUT, the response/feeling has changed. Trackday at the Nurburgring this weekend, and I will decide if to keep these 18, or go down to wider 17

You can fit 18x9.5 +35~40 255 squared w/ coilovers.

You can also fit 17x9+38 on stock suspension.

There are dedicated forums for tire and wheel fitments.

I wouldn't recommend wider than 8" or 8.5" dd on stock power.

For the record, I run 18x8+42 with 235/40/r18's dd
