Damn, I'm not ready to spend $700.
I will first try to figure out how to work my OEM HU.
I really want to play phone audio and use speaker phone.

Press the setup button (looks like a wrench), chose Bluetooth, Registered Devices, Add a device. Then make your phone discoverable and it should connect.

I love this thing. I hate big screens and I just wanted the basic function which it does perfectly. Bluetooth has been super reliable since day 1 (4 years ago) at least with my iPhones. If you wanted a less expensive oem HU that fits perfectly and is kind of old school this one is great. But if you want all those new features then it's probably not the one for you.
Yup, the damn thing just works. Nice big ol' volume knob and reliable Bluetooth is a combo that's tough to beat. I ended up sticking a magnet phone mount right where the HD Radio / Bluetooth logos are.

Yup, same as what I got. Everything works and Bluetooth connects every time without issue. I usually play google music through the phone and it sounds great. I have a phone mount on the small door window that puts the phone right above the vent on the drivers side. I have no reasons to upgrade it all just works.

I got my '13 BRZ HU to connect to my phone.
I had to click "Phone" and then add it that way.
Clicking Bluetooth and trying to add device did not work.
Speaker phone appears to work great
and so does Spotify, so I don't think I have any reason to replace the HU.
