I was hoping to avoid bugging Darren, but I did get in touch with him to beg for his help!

The one time I don't call the dealer!

Depending how much you trust your friend, I would say let him install them. They are really easy to install

Also you can rent a spring compressor from auto zone for free. Just need a air wrench to use it.

You don't need a spring compressor on these cars. They're under so little static load that you can undo the top nut while the car is on the ground and the spring will unload as you jack the car up. The only tools you need are a jack, torque wrench, pass-through socket set and allen wrench set. If you were close to me I would do it for a pizza.

DIY thread for compressor-less install.

DIY,

You don't need spring compressors at all, i didn't use any and i didn't die and no spring explosions.

It's not hard if you have the tools and a friend, but it's just one of those jobs that can SOMETIMES take a long time. Suspension bits get rusty and dirty, and you can run into a bolt here or there that just soaks up a lot more time than a DIY may make you expect.

That said, it's a pretty easy car to do it on. If you or your friend have ever done it before, there's a good chance this car is easier to swap springs on.
