Lowering Spring Install?!?!
 

So I thought I got a nice deal on some RCE lowering Springs. They haven't come in yet but I called a shop for install (I have no garage, lift, talent).

The shop said it's labor intensive and just to swap the shocks it's $650!!

Is that frickin' normal?

The shop installed my coilover + alignment = $500

I think you should shop around .......;)

Or spend less than 300 on tools and do it yourself in about 3 hours.

My experience:

-Toyota Dealer quoted $520 plus alignment (TRD springs). Service Advisor didn't recommend, FR-S is already low.

-Independent shop $1080, "it will take all day"

-Craigslist $160

-Mechanic, friend of friend - $200 at his house.

-Tuner shop $350, includes alignment.

Will go to Tuner, lets see how it goes...

BTW If I had a garage or ample street parking, I will do it myself.

I would talk with this member. he is in portland and has an ad on portland craigslist. Are you close to portland? les schwab also has good prices on alignments for just springs. I have had 2 cars aligned by them after spring installs. I did have ground zero install springs on a kia forte and it was about 200. then took to the line up shop for alignment. that was around 60 to 80. hope this helps.
